PARBMCO distributed food packs to 281 members worth P600 of groceries while UMPC gave packs of rice, sugar, and salt to 332 members and nonmembers or 290 households.

In an interview with UPMC Manager Maryjane Magamayo, she said that the officers of the cooperative decided through a resolution that instead of giving a donation, which is part of the cooperative’s yearly community activity, “why not distribute food packs to the members and nonmembers?”

Meantime, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Leoncio Bautista expressed his commendation to the cooperatives for their assistance.

“The spirit of cooperation was greatly appreciated and could be an inspiration to others. Small things mean a lot to those in need and helpless,” Bautista said.

UMPC is a group of farmers/ agrarian reform beneficiaries engaged in consumer store business, microfinance (money lending), hog raising and rice production. It was organized in the year 1991 duly registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

Meanwhile, PARBMCO is also engaging in a consumer store business located in Poblacion Tagbina, Surigao del Sur. Organized in the year 2006 and registered with CDA. These coop members were recipients of DAR Project ConVERGE and capability training to ensure the stability of the operation of the coop. (DAR Info. Officer/PIA-Bislig City)
