The two barangays received 20 million each worth of Farm-to-Market Road from the Local Government Support Fund - Support to Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP) under the supervision of the NTF-ELCAC which consist of concrete pavement road with a project length of 1,367 meters that will benefit a total of 60 households from Brgy Sangay located at Purok 3- Sitio Kapundao Road Section while the concrete pavement road with project length of 1,177.93 meters that will benefit a total of 195 households from Guinabsan located at Purok 6 - Sitio Bugta.
Colonel Adonis Ariel Orio, Commander of 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade, joined the groundbreaking ceremonies of two projects spearheaded by Governor Dale Corvera and attended by various regional heads of government line agencies.
In his message, Gov. Corvera said that the BDP will pave the way for the development and progress particularly those areas vulnerable to the recruitment of Communist Terrorist Groups that hampers the development in the province.
“There is no peace without development and there is no
development without peace,” Corvera said.
He also stressed that the problem of insurgency is not only a sole problem of the police and the military but a problem of the government because of the lack of socio-economic package delivery of government services.
Meanwhile, Col. Orio, in his statement, said the Barangay Development Program is the government’s priority program to usher development and deliver basic services to conflict-affected barangays that lagged due to the terror caused by the CPP-NPA Terrorists.
He also lauded the local government unit of Agusan del Norte, national and local government agencies, and other stakeholders for the commitment and support given in combatting the 50 years old insurgency in the country.
“We are indeed grateful and overwhelmed knowing that all of us are in this together to continue our goal to attain lasting peace and development in the province,” Col. Orio ended.
The said barangays are among the 33 barangays in Agusan Del Norte that were cleared of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels from 2016 to 2019 during the conduct of the Community Support Program of the 23rd Infantry Battalion under the 402nd Brigade. All 33 barangays are entitled to a P20 million funding under the BDP. (Cpt. Romorosa, CMO officer, 402 Bde/PIA Agusan del Norte)
