‘Mindanao Vegetable Derby’ in Bukidnon set in August By Prexx Marnie Kate Trozo

The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the local government of Bukidnon, is gearing for “Mindanao Vegetable Derby” slated in August this year.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said the program aims to improve the quality of vegetables and productivity of farmers in the 50,000-hectare vegetable and highvalue crop area of Mindanao.

“All major seed companies in the country, including organic fertilizer and soil nutrient suppliers and irrigation equipment dealers, are invited to an actual field demonstration which will allow highfield performances of seeds and planting materials,” he said. 32

Governor Jose Maria Zubiri said that “Vegetable Derby” would bring the province’s vegetable industry to a higher level in terms of productivity and quality.
