by the pandemic. “Considering their ages, they now have medicines for maintenance and required to have a good diet. With the quarantines imposed, most of them, as senior citizens, are no longer allowed to go out. Reaching out to them is very important nowadays,” Culima said. Aside from handing out food packs, PNP-RAC-13 members also expressed PNP’s recognition and gratitude for the services of the retirees. Culima said part of the funds used to purchase food packs come from donations of private persons and civic groups in Butuan and other parts of the region. “Most of the retirees we visited Friday were teary-eyed upon seeing PNP personnel in uniform. They recalled the days when they were still active in their duties rendering services to communities and residents in Caraga Region,” Culima said. He said that aside from the retirees, the council also distributed food packs to poor families living near the headquarters of PRO-13 in Barangay Libertad, Butuan City. (PNA)
