MINDA-INITIATED STUDY SHOWS NEED FOR JOBS, FOOD SECURITY
People who have accused me of injecting my bias for local agriculture and fisheries in submitting recommendations on the needed interventions by government PostCOVID 19 Pandemic should know that an on-going study by an independent group commissioned by the UNDP on a request made by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) showed that Mindanawons now have two very important concerns - Jobs and Food.
The initial findings of the study which assesses the impact of COVID 19 on the economy and social behaviour of people from Mindanao were submitted to the MinDA Board during its annual board meeting on Monday, Sept. 27 by Christopher Prior, head of the private consultancy group which is undertaking the study.

I will post a more comprehensive report of SERDEF made by Chris Prior within the week to emphasize the importance of the study on the directions and priorities of our government in crafting interventions for the immediate economic recovery of Mindanao, including the whole country.
As it is now, the initial findings have established two very important concerns of Filipinos in the face of the pandemic - the jobs and income opportunities they lost and the need for an assurance on the availability of food supply. These findings support MinDA’s earlier recommendations that any interventions by government Post-COVID 19 Pandemic should focus on support for food production, especially agriculture and fisheries, because activities in these sectors could immediately create jobs and ensure sufficient food supply.
