Local transmission cases in Caraga now at 237 By Doreen Marielle N. Rosales

Citizens here grow more and more worried over the rising number of local transmission cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which have now totaled to 237 in the entire Caraga region. Per the data from the Department of Health (DOH) Caraga, 223 of the said number of cases are from Butuan City. Among the barangays with the highest number of cases tallied are Ambago with 42 cases; Libertad with 34 cases; Villa Kanangga with 27 cases; Holy Redeemer with 25; Limaha with 21 cases; Buhangin and Doongan, with 18 cases respectively; Bayanihan with 16 cases; San Vicente with 16 cases; and Fort Poyohon with 14 cases.

Residents express their concern over the local COVID-19 situation. For Patrick Ceùeres, a resident of Brgy. Libertad, there is no question on the implementation of containment measures in the city, since the city government has been imposing heightened community quarantine repeatedly to address the issues. The problem, he says, lies in the residents’ lack of discipline.
