I was lucky enough to travel back to New Zealand for the past couple of weeks and enjoy some much needed R&R with the family along with toasting a glass or two to the Caravelle completing its renovation. Last month we opened our Heritage wing, home to our much anticipated Suites and Signature Lounge which completes our hotel renovation. If you haven’t seen our new spaces, please let me know and I will be happy arrange a site inspection with our friendly sales team. And… if that’s not enough, our Local’s Lunch is back at Nineteen and the 20% discount on food has been extended to anyone residing in Saigon with a valid business card or local ID. In my opinion Saigon’s most delicious and most value for money lunch buffet. Running from Monday to Saturday 11:45am – 2:30pm with a range of salads, soups, sushi and chilled seafood. In the grand sweep of Vietnamese history, Saigon is a young city. Nguyen Huu Canh claimed a collection of villages for the Hue based Nguyen clan in 1698. Since its founding, Saigon has been a place of commerce and migrants. These two forces shaped the city’s spiritual life too. This tour explores the city’s past through the sacred architecture created over three centuries. During the tour, tour guests will visit Vietnamese and Chinese pagodas, an Indian Tamil temple, a mosque and colonial era church buildings for unique insights into the people and values that helped build Saigon. Tour guests will be travelling mainly by feet between short distance locations. Taxi and minivan will be utilised for longer distances. The tour commences at 8:30am at The Old Compass Cafe in the heart of Saigon after a short briefing and concludes at around 12:00 noon in District 1. Recommendations: Comfortable walking shoes, hat and sunscreen.

It would be a miss if visiting Mekong Delta without a stop at Cai Rang Floating Market in Can Tho City, an originally spontaneous market, which is one of the most famous and biggest floating markets in the area. Caravelle flips the switch for
EARTH HOUR 2020 A consistent commitment over the years as an effort to save the planet, Caravelle Saigon will be joining iconic landmarks around the world in turning off lights for th Earth Hour 2020, starting at 8:30 pm on March 28 . Started by WWF and their partners as a symbolic lightsout event in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour is now one of the world’s largest grassroots movements for the environment. Held every year on the last Saturday of March, Earth Hour engages millions of people in more than 180 countries and territories, switching off their lights to show support for our planet. th
This year will be the 11 celebration here at the Caravelle. We will turn off lights on the hotels facade facing Lam Son Square and Dong Khoi St along with other unnecessary electrical appliances on premise.

Our restaurants and bars will be illuminated for the hour while our guests enjoy dinner and drink service by candlelight. We also encourage our guests to turn off their inroom lights from 8:30pm, along with an open invite to assist in lighting up the 400-candle frame located in the center of lobby. This year we have arranged the candles in the shape of Earth Hour’s 60+ logo as the traditional symbol of this meaningful event. Apart from switching off the lights, you can also support at home by adopting a low carbon lifestyle and reducing your use of single-use plastic products, in order to conserve our natural resources and reduce waste of all kinds.
