Cardiff Met Students’ Union (SU) is a dynamic and inclusive student membership organisation, representing over 12,000 students. We are dedicated to supporting and empowering students by providing a range of advocacy services, events, and opportunities to enhance their university experience.
We are looking for a Student Advice Coordinator to deliver exceptional advice and guidance to students at Cardiff Metropolitan University. This role is integral to ensuring that students receive the support they need to navigate complex University policies and access the resources necessary for their academic and personal success.

Salary: £24,070 - £26,568 - Starting at the beginning of the scale

Key Responsibilities
Advisory Services
Signposting
Strategic Liaison
Resource Management
Provide students with expert advice on University policies and procedures, including Appeals, Complaints, Unfair Practice, Fitness to Study, Fitness to Practice, and Disciplinary issues.
Act as a bridge to mental health, wellbeing, and housing services to ensure students receive appropriate support.
Work closely with SU elected officers to identify student concerns and develop proactive action plans.
Develop and maintain clear and up-to-date resources, guides, and case recording systems for the advice service.
Data Analysis
Policy Monitoring
Maintaining the Case System
Collect and analyse service data to identify trends, support SU planning, and contribute to relevant reports.
Stay informed on University policy changes and ensure students and staff are updated accordingly.
Inputting data into the SU Casework system to ensure most up to date data sets that inform decision making.
Driving Change
You will get the opportunity to develop new initiatives to help students get the appropriate information proactively.
To undertake any other duties commensurate with the level and nature of the post and the goals of the Students’ Union and follow Union policy to support the achievement of its wider mission and goals.

Essential
Strong planning and organisational skills

Willingness to learn about and engage with democratic structures
Ability to record and interpret data
Desirable
Experience in working in Students’ Union, or any other Tertiary education setting
Knowledge on Students’ Unions and relevant legislation/frameworks, e.g., Charity Law, Education Act, Data protection.
Experience with providing advice and guidance.
Any other relevant experience in Higher Education
Experience in working with Case management systems.
Ability to speak Welsh.
