Welcome To the very first exciting edition of Give it a Go! In this booklet you will find an amazing array of fantastic opportunities for you to jump straight into! All activities are aimed at complete beginners and are geared to get you to try things you’ve never tried before. You don’t need a membership and you don’t need to commit to anything after the session – so there’s never been a better time to ‘Give it a Go’!
Give it a Go @ Cardiff
Here’s what you do: • Pick an activity that takes your fancy. • Go to CardiffStudents.com/GiveitaGo and sign up to the event. • Turn up on the day with your student card and Give it a Go!
Icons Key You should have your student card with you at all times when on University premises. But you may specifically need to show it to the activity leader so they know exactly who they have with them and so you can receive your #Igaveitago experience points! As far as we know this session is suitable for wheelchair users. This session has something in the description which suggests the possibility of alcohol, such as a trip to the pub or some social drinks during the event. You will need to take some spending money with you to pay for reasonable public transport costs, venue entry or third party services.
Applying common sense you may have to wear warm or waterproof clothing with footwear appropriate for the session – e.g. trainers for running, loose clothing for dancing. You may have to take a swimming costume, or take a bottle of water. There is also the possibility that you may need some kind of safety gear such as a bike helmet or mouth guard. This should all be explained to you on the session description. Pen and paper are advised for the taking of notes. What the GIAG Score we will stamp onto your loyalty card will be!
These events are suitable for children!

Why is it that Africa has 15% of the world’s population but 1% of the world’s doctors? In Chad half of all children are undernourished and 1 in 5 children die before their 5th birthday. Meanwhile in the most affluent country – the USA – 20 million people live without insurance. Health inequality is pervasive and diminishes human dignity. Who will stand up to it? You? Come along to this free introduction to Global Health and see how you can make an impact.
