“Real estate issues are fundamental to every New Yorker—landlord, tenant, homeowner, neighbor, developer. Cardozo trains students to attend to the sometimes competing demands of the real estate world.” —Professor Stewart Sterk, Director of Cardozo’s Center for Real Estate Law and Policy

ABOUT THE CENTER FOR REAL ESTATE LAW The Center for Real Estate Law and Policy provides opportunities for students, faculty and alumni to explore recent trends in real estate development and real estate practice. The center’s faculty consists of prominent scholars and highly successful practitioners. Students have the opportunity to take courses in various aspects of real estate law, pursue the Real Estate Concentration, participate in enriching externships, and attend events featuring top practitioners on various timely topics. Externships In addition to classroom work, the center encourages students to learn by doing. Cardozo’s real estate externship program places students in for-credit positions at a number of law firms and real estate investment firms. Externs work in their placements for 10-15 hours per week and also participate in a seminar that explores issues relating to real estate practice. Real Estate Concentration Students pursuing a Real Estate Concentration take required courses, electives and experiential opportunities related to real estate law. A team of faculty advisors oversees the concentration, creating and refining requirements and offering guidance. Alumni advisors help students integrate course selection with practical work experience.
