South Essex Care and Health Association (SECHA)

Choosing a care home or a care service for a relative or a friend is not an easy task. Quite often there is never enough time and trying to interpret someone else’s wishes is difficult. Equally getting to grips with the costs of care and sources of finance can appear to be a minefield.

SECHA members are residential or nursing care home providers covering most of Essex and domiciliary care providers who are dedicated to providing the highest standards of care and value for money.

The Association is active, involved and dedicated. It provides regular face-to-face training and development programmes for staff, offers e-learning for care staff with over 130 courses to choose from at discounted rates for members and is a Disclosure and Barring Service registered umbrella body enabling DBS checks on all members’ staff as required. SECHA strives constantly to keep its members up to date with latest care practices and changes in the law as it affects care homes and have found that members benefit enormously from the ‘Buddy’ system operated. This helps members with one-to-one consultation and assistance as required with problems encountered.

SECHA administers a bed register of its member homes, which can be can found at www.secha.org.uk/ The register is updated daily on the website and sent to local authorities, integrated care boards (ICBs) and other placement agencies once a week. Alternatively, contact the administrator who will forward a copy to you.
