Brain injury Brain injury (BI) is caused by a trauma to the head (head injury) or as a result of a physical illness. There are many possible causes, including road traffic accidents, assaults, falls and accidents at home or at
work, as well as brain haemorrhage and cardiac arrest (causing lack of oxygen to the brain). Many brain injuries are minor, causing temporary
