Years 1-8

Years 9-13

When children come to school, they want to learn. We teach them. Our phonics programme ensures children learn to read fluently without guessing before they are six. Our arithmetic based maths course has them calculating accurately from year 1.

Secondary courses are taught in modular packages that enable students to work at their own level in each subject, and develop independent study skills. Courses lead to vocational training or Cambridge International Examination qualifications accepted by universities and employers world-wide.

Building on a firm foundation of basics children learn to read, write, spell and do maths; we challenge them to explore the world of science, understand their heritage and value biblical truth; we teach them how to make music, create skilful works of art, support team members and compete in sport.

Our stimulating academic programme includes the full range of arts, Bible, science, language, phys ed, business and practical subjects. It is supplemented by Duke of Edinburgh Awards, vocational experience, and options for integrating community based sporting and cultural activities.

Courses in senior primary include computing, languages, home economics and technology, preparing children for success in secondary study.

Small classes, and tutorial groups of from 1 to 5 pupils, ensure rich teaching, real opportunity to learn, and accurate reporting to parents.

Carey College is committed to helping parents nurture their children in truth and excellence for Christ. Courses in all years blend our Christian perspective and New Zealand content into the internationally acclaimed Cambridge Curriculum.

Carey College secondary courses have two aims:  help children discover their gifts,  build on those gifts so that every child leaves school richly and diversely skilled, ready to serve Christ in employment or tertiary education.
