Indicator Scoring Range and Interpretation

Biodiversity assessed as number of species is high. Shannon-Wiener is medium with a fair mix of cool and warm season grasses, and a high number of forbs.

The Shannon-Wiener diversity index is a measure of diversity that combines species richness (the number of species in a given area) and their relative abundances.

Ecological Health Index (T3)

LTM EHI, conducted on Transect 3 was +95 points, which is above the farm average and reflects the STM scores of Quince and in similar paddocks of Phalaris and Little Italy. The score can be interpreted as a light departure from Ecoregion potential.

The Ecosystem Function Indexes were also similar to the STM site in Quince and nearby Phalaris paddock, with good ground cover, litter abundance, and litter and dung decomposition, along with live canopy and vigorous functional groups.
