Hey, #POSHgirl New Year, New Outlook .

The end of one year and the start of another naturally inspires us to reflect. Prior to the New Year, those of us working girls could be found wrapping up projects while wrapping presents, planning strategic initiatives for the coming year while planning family celebrations, and reflecting on personal accomplishments while analysing ROIs. Without stating the obvious, 2020 was a challenging year marked by historical events and unforeseen changes to work and home lives; it has also been a year of learning for all of us, as we frequently heard the term ‘pivot’. A new year is now here, and if there is one key thing learned in 2020, it is too not take anything for granted.

With each new issue, in an effort to connect with you in this space. I pondered to myself for weeks prior, trying to think about what meaningful thing I could share. There has been so much loss of loved ones, loss of employment, and even loss of confidence. To those experiencing loss, I share this, "And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." - 1 Peter 5:10.

Our new issue of the magazine features a cover that celebrates how far we as women have come. As Caribbean woman, I am inspired by the story of Kamala Harris. With this level of change coming in my lifetime, I would say it is time to upgrade our outlook on life. In today’s world, despite all the disparity and negativity, a woman that looks like me and is relatable to me in her Caribbean heritage can achieve what once seemed impossible – to become the Vice President of the United States of America.

So what is holding you back from achieving your seemingly impossible dream? Have you ever noticed how fear can incapacitate us? You might find yourself unable to think straight or you are indecisive. You might even find yourself procrastinating on things you know you should be doing. If this is you, stop it sis! New Year, new outlook – it is time to get out of your own way!
