MEET THE TEAM Although we’re just 2 months away from the great start of the Caribbean Jamboree 2014, there’s a planning team that has been working actively since 2011. Those involved with planning and preparation for the 15th Caribbean Jamboree are included in the Jamboree Planning Team. The Jamboree Planning Team is a team of volunteers, Scouts and Non Scouts. For the first time ever, Scouting Antiano reached out to professionals who are willing to contribute with the Jamboree by volunteering for the Planning Team. As we speak, a planning team of over 40 volunteers are working hard to make sure your Scouts have a good Jamboree experience. Daniël Corsen Jr, as the Jamboree Director, heads the Jamboree Planning Team. The planning team consists of three other directors; a Program Director (Ariadna Nicasia), a Finance & Administration Director (Adrienne Hermina), and a Logistics Director (Jessica Ignacio). Along with this team, Daniel is responsible for the Jamboree. It is their responsibility to guarantee a tremendous Jamboree for everyone.

To make its work possible, the Planning Team counts on a staff of volunteers that takes care of Human Resources, Contingent Support, Communications and Food & Beverage for the Jamboree. In addition, CMT members and unit leaders are also preparing their Scouts for this event. It is a great feeling knowing that preparations are going on all over the Caribbean, culminating on the fields of ‘RondeKlip’ in a few months’ time. When we started planning this Jamboree many years ago, we had many ideas of what we wanted to deliver. As we get closer to the event we see ideas turning into reality. All with the aim to give your Scouts a unique Scouting experience!

FOOD & BEVERAGE AT

The Jamboree The question of what you’ll be eating and drinking must have crossed your mind. Well here’s the info on how you’re going to get your F&B. The worry of how you’re going to get your F&B upon arrival. You’ll be provided with a snack by the catering team as you arrive at the Registration Desk. All your attention can be invested into settling in to your new home for the week. How you get your grub on the rest of the week is as follows: Each unit will receive supplies and ingredients to prepare breakfast and dinner. Every day we will make suggestions on which meals you can prepare with the ingredients you have received. For lunch, we’ll make sure to serve something to keep your tummy satisfied. As the day activities will be quite intense, we won’t be supplying heavy meals for lunch. If you’d like to

enjoy a snack in between meals, feel free to pass by our Jamboree Café to purchase your bite. IST’ers and volunteers don’t you worry because there will be a catering team at every location that will take care of you. The 4 elements will be incorporated into the menu, as well as dishes of the participating countries. And of course there will be a day where you’ll be able to enjoy Curaçao’s local dishes.

15TH CARIBBEAN JAMBOREE

We are just a few months away from the big Caribbean Jamboree week 2014! On the island of Curaçao the preparations are up and running, where the organization is getting ready for the arrival of the different scouts from all over the Caribbean. In the meanwhile the Jamboree Facebook page is the platform where all Scouts can share their preparations with us. Be sure to make good use of this platform to share with others, what you are doing and how your preparations are coming along for your travels to the beautiful island of Curaçao. Maybe you want to share with others Jamboree attendants who your scouts are and what you will be doing for our cultural festival! This is just an idea of what you can post on our facebook page. Maybe you just have other great

The organization of CaribJam 2014 wants everyone to get super excited about our Jamboree week in July 2014, this is the reason there is a super great video teaser that you can share online with all your friends, family and off course all other scouts! Checklist,.. SIGN UP AND SEND THE FORMS: So contingents… we are getting closer to the day where you will be leaving and travel to the most awesome island in the Caribbean, for your journey to begin. Because the date is close it is of highly importance to have everything in place; think about your pre-registration for example and the Contingent Leaders nomination. For the contingents that have not completed the aforementioned yet, make sure to complete these today! And, do not forget to state all your details including medical conditions (if any) and your special skills for example. As soon as the preregistration forms are received you will be provided with the individual registration list. We are excited to announce that Aruba, Barbados, Guadeloupe, Grenada, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, USA, Guyana, Sint Maarten are registered already! So don’t hesitate, don’t procrastinate, hurry and sign up!

MATERIAL INQUIRY FORM: As informed in the last bulletin all teams of the participating countries are responsible for their own gear. You are free to bring your own equipment but bear in mind the existing limitations of traveling with luggage and costs involved in transporting equipment as cargo. Renting equipment facilitates you and saves you cost. Of course some equipment will be provided at the camping site such as; stoves and cooking gear. The cooking gear includes a set of basic items like pots, pans and utensils which is good for cooking for a Troop (4 patrols).Both the stoves and cooking gear will be provided at no charge. Tents are available for USD 50 each for the whole period of the Caribjam. Fill out the form of what is needed and send it to us at logistics@caribjam2014. com. In case of questions please also just send us an email on the aforementioned address and we will provide you with the info requested for you to be able to complete the form accordingly.

Contingent Leader’s MEETING

The Jamboree Planning Team had the honor to welcome Contingent Leaders and Management Team Members during the weekend of April 25 - 27 to inform them on the progress in preparation for the CaribJam. On this occasion, Contingent Leaders from Aruba, Sint Maarten, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and Guadeloupe were present. Next to the sessions held at our Headquarters, participants took a visit to the Jamboree Camp Site and participated at Scouting Antiano’s National St. George Day’s Celebration at Brion Plein. A Dropbox folder is being shared with all who did not get to attend the Contingent Leaders’ Meeting. THE IST

Experience Behind the scenes of the Caribbean Jamboree, there will be a whole team of dedicated members who will make sure this wonderful Scouting event is run smoothly while also experiencing the Jamboree from a different perspective. The International Service Team (IST) has their work cut out for them, but they will also have the opportunity to enjoy a great program with their patrol. Every IST member will be part of a patrol of four to eight scouts from several different countries. As soon as we’ve received all the registrations and appointments of interest, we’ll be able to make the patrols which will have their own schedules with specific tasks. The program modules for the IST include four themes: • The Caribbean • Personal Development • Spiritual Experience • Simply Fun Please note that IST members have to attend at least one activity from each theme to attain the IST Experience Badge. The Jamboree program for the IST members will start on July 19th with training at 2 p.m. The IST members will be camping in the Adult Village and not with their contingent. However, the IST members have to register with their contingents. The IST camp fee is USD 180.
