CULTURAL FESTIVAL DAY As we count down to the kick off of Caribbean Jamboree, the organization of the Cultural Festival day, is providing all contingents with more information on this event. The cultural festival day will be divided into two parts. In the first half the contingents will have opportunity to inform and let visitors literally taste their culture by giving things that they have brought along from their country/island. In the other part of the day all contingents will participate with a cultural presentation. In the morning hours all contingents will have the opportunity to decorate and give their ‘stands’ a great cultural flavor. It is required that all stands have: • E typical food from your country/island • E typical drink from your country/island • A souvenir • Material to promote their country/island (Flyers, booklets etc.) • Information about your culture

All contingents will be responsible for the decoration of their stand that will be available for them. All the costs that come with the decoration of their stand, presentation and exposition will be at own costs. Take note that to prepare your typical dish, the ingredients will have to be brought along on the trip to Curacao. If this is not necessary, there will be an opportunity to go to the supermarket to purchase items needed. The stand that will be provided to all countries/island will include: a table, two chairs and basic materials for decoration like tape, glue, scissors etc. Participants dinner will be the food they taste from the diffrent contingents present at the jamboree or by purchasing food/snacks at the Jamboree Cafe On this day all contingents will receive breakfast and lunch.

We want all our scouts (not only the ones that will visit Caribbean Jamboree 2014) to get the opportunity to see where our scouts come from and why they love their country! By letting us post this on our facebook page you will receive more exposure for your stand and country.

So remember if you have not yet started preparing for this event, it is about time to think on a great presentation and some tasteful food and drinks that will represent your country.

Friendship Award. Jamboree is about “Life Tracking Treasures”. What better way to do so then with friends…. That’s what the Friendship Award is all about, and it’s part of the Jamboree program. The award is meant to encourage scouts to establish international friendships with one and other. All scouts will receive assignments that they have to comply with in other to acquire the award. For a scout to achieve the award all assignments must be executed according to the criteria’s given for the Friendship Award. The scouts that completed the assignments will receive a badge representing the Friendship Award. This means that each scout that received a Friendship Award will have different international friendships that they established during the Jamboree. Jamboree Curacao Tracking Treasures with friends!

THE ADULT VILLAGE All Contingent Management Team together with the International Service Team will camp together in the Adult Village. The Adult Village is located next to the camp headquarters and will have their own facilities. All adults in the adult village will be catered at during the Jamboree. It is the responsibility to each adult to bring their own camping gear. If anyone is

SAFE FROM HARM All adults in the Jamboree (leaders, cmt members, ist and jpt) will have to pass a safe from harm test before entering the Jamboree. This will be an online course that will be sent to all contingent in the second week of July. More information will follow soon.
YOUTH FORUM On July 25th all the jamboree participants, between the ages of 15 and 26, will be invited to a youth forum. The dresscode for this activity is the official uniform of each scout association. This activity will be done by the Interamerican Youth Network.The Youth Forum is a tool to support the process of developing youth participation and youth involvement. It is an activity that empowers and inspires these young people to develop skills in decision making which can be used within Scouting and in their society later on. We encourage all these young people to get involved. Like the Interamerican Youth Network’s page on Facebook. And get all the information of the upcoming Caribbean Youth Forum.
BRING YOUR COUNTRY FLAG Note to all Contingents: Please bring along an official flag of your country that measures 1m x 1.5m. This flag will be used by the Jamboree Planning Team during official ceremonies. The flag will be given back to you after the Closing Ceremony of the Jamboree.

Global Development Village General info Global Development Village will also be part of the 15th Caribbean Jamboree. The goal of the GDV is to create awareness amoung the youth about the daily issues the world is facing nowadays. During the GDV the youth will get the opportunity to explore and meet with National and local partners of International organizations to have a better understanding of some of these issues/topics. At the end of the GDV the youth will have a better understanding of these issues and the role they can play in preventing them. With the tools and skills they will get during the GDV it will be easier for them to go back to their islands/communities and begin working in partnership with their scout groups, organizations or government to create a better world. The topic of the Global Development Village of the 15th Caribbean Jamboree will be: “Connecting the dots of life”. With this topic we want to illustrate that everything in this life is connected to each other. And by connecting to each other we can make a major force to make a noticeable change in our communities and the world.
The Villages The Global development Village will be consisting of 4 areas, that we will call villages. Each of these villages will be representing one of the life’s elements/treasures.
Village: Life Elements: Description: Information Communication & Technology Air Nowadays we can interact easily with each other by using the media and technology. Like the Air, Information & Communication Technologies flows and we can always stay connected to each other. Human Rights Earth Earth represents the Human rights. It’s where we as human beings always can be physically in contact with one another. And for that it’s important to respect and live in peace with each other. Entrepreneurship Fire Fire represents the spirit, energy and passion we have to have when we go on a new journey. Like fire an entrepreneur starts small to grow bigger. Health Water Water plays an essential role as substance for living organisms. Without water we cannot live, without water there is no life. The Global Development Village activities will consist of; • Workshops • Practical activities • Interactive stands
Seed swap: For an activity that will be held at the GDV we would like to ask every contingent to bring 1 kg of seeds. The seeds must be the countries favorite or famous fruit/ vegetable. Illegal seeds are not allowed (like cannabis). When you arrived at the camp site, this must be handed over to the sub camp leader.

CODE OF CONDUCT
TRACKING TREASURES
This code of conduct is based on the World Jamboree Camp Rules. The World Jamboree brings young people from all around the world together and it is a place of gathering, friendship and sharing for young people. This code of conduct is written in the context of the values in the scout Principles, Promise and Law and it applies to all participants, leaders and staff. We ask all Participants, Leaders and Staff to agree and commit them selves to this Code of Conduct during the Jamboree. If Scouts cannot keep to this code of conduct, they should be aware that sanctions as detailed in the World Scout Jamboree camp rules will be enforced.
1. DRESS CODE As Scouts we are aware of each other’s and our cultures. Different culture and countries have different dress codes. As Scouts we all have a uniform and take pride in wearing it. With this in mind, during the Jamboree:
• Scout Uniform should be worn for the formal activities e.g. the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and when appropriate on activities off site. Information will be given about this with activity information. • The Jamboree Scarf and Identification Card should be worn at all times. • Wear clothing suitable to the activities in which you are participating. • In your dress code, take into account respect for other cultures.
2. INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS At the Jamboree many different nationalities will be represented with many different cultures. As Scouts we respect each other’s cultures and traditions. With this in mind during the Jamboree:
• In all situations everybody is expected to demonstrate tolerance an mutual respect for each other • Displays of intimacy in public are not encouraged.
3. ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES The Jamboree is an opportunity for participants to adapt a fit and healthy lifestyle. With this in mind:
• The Caribbean Jamboree is a non-alcoholic event. • Smoking is only allowed, during rest periods and in the designated areas. • Possession, consumption or supply of any kind of (locally or internationally) illegal drugs is strictly forbidden.
4. CARE AND CONCERN All Scouts have a duty to care for themselves, others and the environment in which we live. With this in mind, at the Jamboree:
• Participants should act with care during all activities. Damage caused to property due to careless behavior may result in participants being held personally responsible. • Please take all lost properties to the Lost & Found Desk. • Think about the environment, make sure you put all rubbish in the bins provided. • Use the recycling containers provided. • Be aware that after 23.00 hours the Jamboree site should be quiet. Everybody needs to sleep so they can enjoy the activities on the next day. (On site activities will close at 22.00 hours so that everyone is asked to be back to their subcamp at 22.30 hrs.) Add till 5 o’clock

5. PUNCTUALITY To make sure that everyone can get the most from their Jamboree experience it is key that activities can start and finish on time. With this in mind:
• All participants, leaders and staff should be on time for activities and events.
6. COMMERCE As we come together from different countries and cultures. We hope to take something away with us from other cultures. As Scouts however we must be fair to each other. With this in mind, during the Jamboree:
• Swopping is accepted, providing the deal is fair and undertaken in the Scout Spirit and neither side gains commercially. • Gambling is not allowed at anytime. • Swopping is only allowed with peers
7. THE BEACH AND SWIMMING One of the activities of the Jamboree is the beach. As Scouts however we must share this area safely and make sure everyone gets a chance to use it. With this in mind:
• Access to the beach will be restricted, final information about this will be given by the sub-camp team. • The instructions of the life guards must be followed at all times. • There will be some restrictions as to who is allowed on the beach and when.
8. Fire The Jamboree site is a very dry place and if we are not careful, a fire could easily be started. With this in mind, during the Jamboree:
• All the participants , leaders and staff should be aware of the procedures in case of fire. • No open flames are allowed apart from those planned in the programme. • Only gas and electric lighting may be used in the sub-camp. • Fireworks are not permitted under any circumstances.
9. CAMP KNIVES As scout knives are very useful, they can be very dangerous. Therefore at the Jamboree:
• Camp knives with blades less than 15 cm are permitted. When not in use they should be stored safely.
10. ON SITE PRESENCE The Jamboree site is located close to homes and different locations, because of this:
• Participants are not allowed to leave the Jamboree Site apart from an organized activity. • Leaders and Staff can leave the Jamboree site after having made arrangements with the Staff of the Logistic Department
11. FUN As Scouts we meet together to enjoy ourselves and have fun. With this in mind, during the Jamboree:

First Aid
So, participants you might be all excited at the moment of reading this since we are just some days away from the Jamboree!!! We are hereby just feeding you with the last important details for you to take into account with regards to First Aid. First aid is absolutely essential in emergency situations; there have been thousands of cases where heart attacks, burns, electrocutions, falls, spinal injuries, choking and bleeding have all gone untreated until members of the emergency services have arrived on scene. However, the ability to carry out first aid before paramedics arrive can really minimize a casualty’s damage, help aid recovery and even ensure survival. You can rest assure that for this Jamboree we are well prepared when it comes to First Aid. We have several members available who will be assigned as First Aid officers. They can be identified by the logo/sign on their T-shirt but also they will wear an identical wristband. The First Aid officers will be around and especially during the planned activities on and off the camp field to assist when needed. Also there are First Aid stations on the camping field which can be identified by the first Aid signs. Besides, there are also participants in this Jamboree who are certified first aiders and we have doctors and ambulances on standby for extreme cases. No need to worry because we got you covered! If you use special medication make sure to bring enough for your stay or check if your travel insurance covers this medication abroad. If so, don’t forget to bring your prescription. You will probably be able to get your medication and declare it to your insurer upon return.
Personal Items To Bring Along The following is a list of equipment that would be useful in connection with our program. • Sun protection ( make sure it’s long-lasting and high SPF) • Canteen/Water Bottle • Appropriate walking gear (shoes and clothes) • Backpack • Music instrument • Pencil, pen & notebook • Insect repellent • Cutlery
