Premier visits constituency for UCP fundraising event Leslie Cholowsky Editor
Premier Danielle Smith visited Camrose on Thursday, Jan. 12, at the request of MLA, Jackie Lovely. The two toured the city, visiting the Encana Arena where the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event was taking place, meeting informally with the organizing committee, some volunteers, and some attendees. Lovely notes that the event was made possible by a provincial grant. “Athletes attended from around the world and fans gathered in Camrose, filling hotels, restaurants, and shops.” The pair also visited two different independent seniors buildings. There Smith and
Lovely took time to visit with residents who were there, and took questions from them as well. Lovely says most of the conversation revolved around affordability and the upcoming election. Premier Smith posed for pictures and Lovely says she also provided listeners with detailed information about the Alberta Sovereignty Within a United Canada Act. “The Premier clarified to Camrose constituents that the Act does not mean separation for Alberta from Canada but rather taking a firm stance against Ottawa in protecting development of our natural resources,” Lovely says. Later in the evening, the Camrose UCP Board held a
successful fundraising dinner event at the Camrose Regional Exhibition where Smith and Lovely, along with the board, raised money to fund the upcoming Provincial election for both the local Camrose UCP Constituency Association and the UCP Party. Lovely says attendees were present from all areas of the constituency. “Premier Danielle Smith is committed to the success of the Camrose region, and she made that clear on her recent visit. “Alberta’s economy is strong and diversifying. “I am proud to represent Premier Smith and the UCP as we continue to renew the Alberta Advantage,” says Lovely.
Premier Danielle Smith and Camrose MLA Jackie Lovely hit the streets of Camrose on Thursday, Jan. 11, visiting a number of residents, including two independent living buildings.
