Chael Whaling chosen for elite Chicago tourney

BY JOHN MATHER A Lamont area youth has played his way on to an elite team of 11-yearolds who will travel to Chicago in July to play in an elite hockey tournament.

Chael Whaling, played his pre-novice and novice hockey in Lamont with the Lamont Hawks organization before moving into Edmonton to play on the Spartan North hockey team in the Edmonton super

league two years ago.

“He played in Lamont from age five to nine,” said his mom Michelle Whaling. “We found this new league, the Edmonton Super League and Chael made one of their teams.”

Chael was an impact player on his Spartan North hockey team over the 21-22 season,” said Team Alberta general manager Jason Nicholetts in a release.

“He demonstrated he

has the skating and skill to be a top hockey prospect but further to this his tenacity on the ice and leadership in the dressing room set him apart from other high level players.”

The Alberta team, Alberta Crew, will play in the Continental Clash Tournament at the Mt. Prospect Ice Arena near Chicago, Illinois from July 20 to 24.

The tournament is modelled on the very successful Edmonton Brick tournament which is held annually at West Edmonton Mall.

The 17 players selected to the team are 2011 born players chosen from top players from throughout Alberta and British Columbia. The team is coached by Mike Desautels from Sherwood Park and former Edmonton Oiler Jason Strudwick and Charlie Mattersdorfer.

Desautels has a lengthy coaching background having grown up as a player in the Southside Athletic Club organization and later as a coach.

“Chael started out as a forward, but when he went into Edmonton he was converted to a defenceman and he just loves it,” said Michelle.

Opinion A new world order of leaders is needed

BY JOHN MATHER What is leadership?

Oxford defines it as an adjective for leader which is defined as a person or thing that leads.

Pretty simple right?

It goes on a person followed by others; a member of the government officially responsible for initiating business in parliament; a series of dots or dashes placed across the page to guide the eye and finally the horse placed at the front of a team.

In many cases in our society I believe leadership does resemble the horse placed at the front of the team.

And I truly believe it has lost its way!

A friend mentioned during a hearing the other day “Why should we accept a ruling in which we impose restrictions when no one will enforce those restrictions?”

That shocked me. Did he mean as leaders we shouldn’t have the right to direct others to heed and enforce the rules and regulations placed by society?

It seemed he did.

Minor misdemeanours go unenforced.

Look at our communities… got cats and dogs running loose… does anyone come out to correct the situation or speak to the owners of said animals? Certainly not in a timely manner if at all.

But then the community officials quickly fall back on that excuse of lack of adequate funding or just not enough personnel.

Well the job of the leaders at any level is to correct that and ensure the rules are enforced.

And this doesn’t just happen in our communities. It is a pandemic at every level of our society.

Look at the Russia/Ukrainian situation.

The population has become immune to the daily horrors of the war because the mainstream media has a lack of leadership to continue to highlight the carnage and keep the war in front of the public eye.

In turn this has allowed Putin to block the export of grain and food products from Ukraine to markets in Africa. This is leading to the starvation of millions in Africa who have absolutely nothing to do with Putin’s crazy clash with Ukraine.

Yet where is western leadership demanding an open channel in the Black Sea to allow trade to continue?

Certainly not south of the border where the world’s supposedly greatest nation is led by a near-senile old man who stumbles through almost every sentence he utters.

CONTINUED Behind him in line is a career politician who serves as vice president but seems to only be there to smile and nod sagely at every miscue Biden utters. Following the Vice President in line is speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi. I’ll just leave that right there.

In Canada we have someone who would rather dress up and wear vanity socks than lead the country. Justin Trudeau is supported by a supposed NDP leader who probably hasn’t met a working man in years. Mr. Singh will never form government but by entering into a prop up pact with the Liberals he’s gotten as close to the prime minister’s office as he ever will.

Not leadership material.

In Alberta we have a lame duck Premier who has promised to resign, but won’t go.

While he stalls, the opposition NDP is ramping up support which may carry them to the government side of the Legislature in the next election, less than a year away.

Again, Mr. Kenney, not good leadership.

As I look about I can’t see any so-called leaders who are doing good work. They all seem to be studying their own needs and finding ways to benefit from the positions they are in.

Our Federal leaders in Canada could be

promoting our energy worldwide during this time of conflict, but no, we’ll concentrate on climate change, wind and solar power which haven't been proven to work in any sort of sufficient quality.

Fuel prices, food prices and all other costs increase, but our Federal leaders do nothing to relieve the situation.

The world leaders shake fists at each other, ignoring the plights of their own populations, yet none want to sit down and try to find common ground.

The United Nations does nothing unless a bribe can be found somewhere to line a pocket. The UN Food and Aid programs are full of such tales of graft and corruption. How does this help hunger and poverty?

No, our world-wide leadership is very much like the horse pulling the cart. It has lost its way and the population unfortunately is left looking at just the back end of the horse and forming their opinions based on that.

We have leaders who want photo ops and power but don’t have the fortitude to make strong decisions and then the wherewithal to have those decisions enforced. Our Prime Minister hides in the cottage when faced with controversy. Is that leadership?

From Where I Sit: It Will Get Done

BY HAZEL ANAKA Isn’t it great when an upcoming event creates a self-imposed deadline to get stuff done? I am not, by nature a procrastinator. The same cannot be said for husband dear.

Anyone who lives or works with a procrastinator knows that there are a million and one excuses why the said thing was never finished or sometimes even started. The excuses stretch the bands of believability. They also aim to deflect responsibility to any and everything under the sun.

It has nothing to do with time management or the result of poor minute-to-minute free will choices, you see.

There is no conscious effort to tackle the worst things first and get them out of the way. Nor is the plan to dig into the small, quick, and easy

ones that will make a noticeable difference and a person feel satisfied.

In some households, nagging takes on the intensity of an Olympic competition and makes both people feel lousy.

Ignoring the procrastination helps the culprit breathe easy but it might be eating a hole in the other person’s gut. I just hate seeing people delude themselves. As long as behaviour (of any kind) can be explained away by blaming others, the weather, planetary alignment, complaints about being so so busy, nothing will ever change.

But there is a solution that I’ve resorted to several times in this long marriage. Plan a gettogether; invite people over. Make the stakes higher by including people you hope to wow or make a good first impression on.

If you didn’t spray the weeds in the flower beds when the wife suggested it weeks ago, then hack them down when they are (literally) knee-high just days before the event. If you didn’t remove the protruding 2

x 4 shims under the new steps last year, do it now after we’ve all tripped over them a few times.

Not that I didn’t have last-minute jobs too.

Three, or is it four years after the big addition to the house, it was finally time to bring back the patio table and six chairs.

It was time to buy some bedding plants, new pots, a second umbrella, a new chaise lounge. Roy chased down a threeseater swing I’d seen one day. It appealed to me because the cushions were removable. Even the little canopy top is just velcroed in place.

After I had the carton open, component pieces and hardware laid out, I set to assembling it. You should have seen me struggle and sweat… but never underestimate the adrenalin coursing through a determined woman. It was clearly a two-person job.

Eventually Roy joined me and we got ‘er done.

Last year, when we had new sidewalks and an enlarged patio poured, I also had the guy pour a pad for my long-awaited gazebo. I

Andrew on the hunt for new CAO plus returning officer for byelection

BY JANA SEMENIUK The Village of Andrew Council is now on the hunt for not only a new Chief Administrative Officer but also a returning officer for the byelection scheduled for Aug. 8 as discussed at their June 8 special meeting.

Mayor Barry Goertz, who is currently battling cancer, was present by speaker phone.

Previously, the Village CAO has doubled as the returning officer for elections, but current interim CAO Steve Upham advised against it.

“If I were to still be CAO, I could do it. But you know, my plans were not necessarily to stay here until Aug. 8. So, I think it's probably prudent for you to hire somebody to be a returning officer. If you don't do it, then I by default, become that person. But it's not fair. If you have a new CAO starting, say on Aug. 1, it's not fair for that person to come in and take over as returning officer within 10 days of an election,” he said.

Upham added that he would incur hours of overtime keeping up

with the CAO and returning officer duties and it would make financial sense to simply hire a separate returning officer.

In terms of the CAO search, Councillor Tammy Pickett shared that they were able to simply return to the previous applications to search for a suitable candidate and were not required to re-post for the position due to the short time frame of 10 weeks where the previous CAO was hired and terminated.

“We had 15 applications and seven of them are interested in the position,” she said. Deputy mayor Merwin Haight said the position had been posted on the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) website and Pickett said there are applicants as far away as Saskatchewan.

Meanwhile, Haight said he has already heard feedback from the village residents on the future CAO. “I’ve heard from residents saying they would like us to reach outside

the village for a CAO and not have someone local,” he said.

“They're seeing that as much as this has been, a crap show, Steve is keeping it going and not taking sides. So, they're seeing the effects of an outside person doing that job. He’s getting well liked around here.”

Mundare road to be renamed to honour famed psychologist

BY JOHN MATHER Mundare council has decided to honour Albert Bandura by naming a section of 50 Avenue from 50 St. to 51 St. after the world renowned psychologist who was born in Mundare and passed away last year at the age of 95.

When first discussed last summer, Councillor Irene Talaga had updated council on when he had last visited the community from his home in California.

It turns out that Bandura was the uncle of

Talaga’s husband.

“He donated some books to the library,” she said. “He was recognized at the museum the last time he was here.”

At the time, Chief Administrative Officer Colin Zyla told council he had been approached by some people wondering whether the town could erect a plaque to honour him or provide some other method of recognition.

Bandura was the David Starr Jordan Professor in Psychology at Stanford University.

New Principal introduced to Bruderheim School Council

BY JANA SEMENIUK Bruderheim School’s new principal, Dave Armbruster, was introduced to the parent council at their last meeting of the year, June 7.

Armbruster will take over this fall from current principal Paul McKay, who is leaving to be the principal at Lamont Elementary School.

“I said to my superintendent months ago, I'd love to be in a rural school. And Bruderheim is a rural school. I said, ‘Hey, this is perfect,’” Armbruster told the

committee.

He explained that living in Fort Saskatchewan makes it easy to commute to Bruderheim and that he worked previously as an administrator at Mundare School and Lamont Elementary, although for the past year he has been on a leave of absence.

“I’ve just been able to take a step back and, and I was thinking I needed to slow down a little bit,” he said. “The other part was just looking at timing and being able to pursue some different passions that we have as

a family. We've been able to do a bit of travelling overseas this year.”

Armbruster’s family includes his wife, Andrea, and three children.

Meanwhile, McKay presented his principal’s report which included describing activities students have been engaged in over the past several months as well as upcoming Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) for the grade sixes.

“We are looking forward to getting those results for the first time

in a couple of years,” he said, referencing two years of lockdowns and restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It'll be interesting to see what that will really tell us about the impact that COVID had on our what would have been grade four kids, when everything sort of shut down on us, and then the interrupted year for grade five. So it'll really be a good indicator for us when we receive those results in the fall.”

McKay added that he was sad to be leaving Bruderheim School for

the second time after previously leaving his position as principal at Bruderheim School in 2019 and returning this past Sept.

“I’ll close with a gigantic thank you to each and every one of you. I stepped out and stepped back in and it

was like I never left,” he said. “I will always look at my time with you guys and with our school very fondly.”

Bruderheim School Council’s first meeting of the new school year is slated for Sept. 12.

Janet Willick June 25, 1944 – May 29, 2022

Rachael Melenka has played at the Babas and Borshch Ukrainian Festival in Lamont and she has now taken to playing the fiddle at the start of seeding season to bring good luck to the crop. Family Fun for young and old!

Janet, our much loved wife, mother and grandma, passed away on May 29, 2022, at the age of 77 years, after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Janet will be forever remembered by her husband, Howard; son Joe (Valerie); daughters Arlene (Rob) and Cora (Tim); six grandchildren; brothers David (Karen) and Jim (Pat); and sister Rhonda (Ed); and sev

eral nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janet was born on June 25, 1944. When she was 7, her family moved from Camrose to Meadow Creek, B.C., at the north end of Kootenay Lake.

After attending business college, Janet moved to Edmonton, where she worked for the government.

Howard had moved to Edmonton from Saskatchewan, and it didn’t take long for them to meet and get married. The couple moved to Ardrossan and had three children. They later settled down at their farm near St. Michael, raising cattle and operating a sawmill. Janet grew a bountiful garden and enjoyed canning many vegetables.

Sunflowers flourished

for the birds and bees to enjoy. Making jam, baking, knitting, crocheting cozy afghans and sewing beautiful quilts were some of her favourite hobbies.

She always had delicious cookies or squares ready to serve to numerous friends who stopped in for coffee. She also liked to watch curling and the Edmonton Oilers.

Janet was thrilled to attend her first Oilers hockey game earlier this year. She was active in the community and volunteered at St. Michael Hall and the Golden Age Club. They sold the farm and retired to Fort Saskatchewan in 2019.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the United Church in Lamont on June 25, 2022, at 1 pm.

Future world of change and advancements coming to Lamont Grad Class

The graduating class of 2022 at Lamont High School listens attentively as a parade of dignitaries extoll the virtues of their high school education during graduation exercises June 11. The class, clad in Lamont royal blue gowns and mortarboards, were given valuable advice as they prepare to enter the next phase of their lives.

BY JOHN MATHER Lamont High School held its first graduation exercises in person for two years and it escaped no one’s attention that these students had spent their three years in high school in ways no previous graduates had ever done.

From MLA Jackie Armstrong Homeniuk to Lamont area Elk Island School Trustee Colleen Holowaychuk, to Mayor of Lamont Kirk Perrin to Bruderheim Deputy Mayor Judy Schueler; all made note of the fact that teaching methods had to change during this graduating class’s years, as the move was made from in-school learning to online learning and then back to in-class teaching.

“We should be especially proud of our school division and teachers, and how they handled the challenge of COVID-19,” stated Schueler.

“With very little notice they had to adapt to the classroom, new ways of teaching,” said Schueler. “Recently, they both had to do online and in the classroom teaching. In addition to the recent pandemic, your class has also witnessed a year of historic social change all across Canada and the world.

“Here at Lamont High School, the administration, teachers and school community have created an atmosphere of growth, trust, and understanding,” she added. “Lamont High School understands that every individual is different, and is focused on respecting those differences, while creating young adults to lead in diversity, equality, and inclusion. Your school community has given us the tools to make a difference. Make it your personal commitment to steer the next

generation to lead us into a culture where there is no more racism, and recognizes gender equality.”

She told the students they have been given tools but the path forward is not an easy road for everyone.

“As you enter this next part of your life, with time learning, working, or just taking a break to travel and explore, you've got to find what you love.”

She told the graduating class she was completely unprepared when she took on the role of Deputy Mayor of Bruderheim.

“Once there, I had to figure it out and my belief that I could handle the unknown even with the pandemic. But people in the community and the support of the team made this experience one of the most meaningful in my career.”

She recognized the few students that attended the school from Bruderheim.

“To the students from Bruderheim, remember where your home is. Wave at residents… smile at the seniors, and be proud of your rural roots. And know that home will always be Bruderheim. No matter where your journey takes the Class of 22… dream big, live life and never give up.”

Other speeches all encouraged the graduates to follow their dreams whether in post secondary education, travelling or entering the workforce.

Maybe one of the most interesting side points of the entire graduation exercise was that for the two hours the students sat on the stage and listened to the speeches, not a cellphone was to be seen amongst them.

Valedictorian muses on future of rebellious youth

BY JOHN MATHER Elizabeth Goudman was the valedictorian of the Class of 2022 at Lamont High School, June 11.

Her future plans include studying physics at the University of Melbourne and making another trip to visit the United Kingdom.

As she finished her speech she was given a rousing applause by the assembly.

“On behalf of my fellow graduates. I’d like to thank you for spending your Saturday with us,” she began. “Your impact on our lives can not be understated.”

She started with a story Elizabeth of Galileo and his being brought up on charges of heresy for stating the earth rotated around the sun rather than the opposite.

After telling her story of his subversiveness, she touched on the theme of the graduating class, “Forever Young.”

“While many of you in the audience may associate youth with naiveté, brashness or ignorance, to me the greatest characteristic of youth is the

tendency towards subversion… teenage rebellion if you will.

“The tendency of youth is to critically evaluate tradition and in many circumstances do away with it, should it no longer serve a purpose to us. This instinct to change and move us forward as people is critical to invention, discovery, creation and many other noble pursuits. As we age, I feel like we begin to forget how pliable societal conventions and structures can be. But we know the world is malleable.

“We’ve seen that over the past three years of high school.

“As priorities shift in Goudman times of crisis, we have watched the world change rapidly.

And I think this is emblematic of how significant individual actions are in broader society.

Guest speaker Taylor tells grads time is theirs to manage and enjoy

BY JOHN MATHER Lamont councillor Dave Taylor was invited by the graduating class of 2022 at Lamont High School to be their guest speaker.

It was an honour for Taylor because not only was his son among those students graduating and receiving their diplomas, but he, himself, had graduated from the school 35 years earlier.

Taylor has long worked at the Cooking Lake Blackfoot Recreation area adjacent to Elk Island National Park, and also is an elite coach training Para Olympians in the sport of biathlon. He now works with the Canadian Para Olympic Association.

Taylor quickly jumped to the stage when introduced, grabbed the microphone from the podium and turned his back on the assembled crowd so he could directly address the graduating students on the stage with him.

“Evening grads… you’re here.

Congratulations on getting out,” he started out to loud laughs.

“Thank you for asking me to be your speaker. I’m honoured. But you must know that sometimes you don’t always get what you want. You know that right?

But I do remember being on this stage 35 years ago and thinking are these speeches ever going to end?”

“Yeah, yes, you’re hearing what a journey you’ve been on from the other speakers. It's been some strange times, as some of the speakers have alluded to. From junior high, you make it up to high school and you have those new freedoms and you’re ready to make the big leagues in high school and then

“I hope that above all else, these lessons are what we carry with us into the

Taylor pointed out that not only was it a big change for the students but also for the staff and the teaching methods they had to employ and create.

Teachers had to learn to teach and grow the students through the whole experience, he pointed out.

“But you made it… you did,” he emphasized.

And among all the pandemic issues there was a world of social change taking place at the same time, he said.

“If that’s taught you anything then that is to value the time you have,” he told the students.

“People will tell you you’re graduating so your time is now. But no, your time is always now, not just when you graduate.”

He told them to value their time.

He said they had adapted to learning online. But they had all adapted to this learning in different ways. Some found it easy while others struggled with it.

But they adapted to the change and made the most of their time.

“Most of you made it through that.

You invested the time and you succeeded.”

He told them he had seen them persevere to make the best times even during the worst times. They adapted to the changes.

“They say time is fleeting. You have this time now, but you’ll remember this.”

He referenced to his own graduation and how he still remembered it.

“I still remember a lot of the things that happened that night,” he told them. ‘Of course after a while it was kind of fuzzy.”

He told them they would remember the good times they had in high school and then had them recite and name a few of those.

Asking how many students were already working, he went on to emphasize time was more important than money.

“Time is one of those things that you control,” he said. “No one else can take it away from you.

“My point is each moment is yours.

And yours alone!

“Share it with friends or keep it to yourself. Best part is though, enjoy it.

“And some of those times are gonna be very enjoyable. Trust me, it will happen there. Things happen in life and things happen as you move on when you’re going into a culture of post secondary or whatever you’re going to do.

“Use your experiences to propel you,” he stated. “Use those experiences to shape what you're going to do, to shape your past and who you are now … you can shape your future. So your time is now, right now. And then right now, and right now, and so on. Okay, keep that in mind.

“Enjoy your time today. And thanks again for asking me to speak.

Car Crafters President glowing after successful show

BY JANA SEMENIUK Chipman Car Crafters president, Dave Gray, approached the Chipman Village Council during its regular June 13 meeting to discuss the successful recent Car Crafters show.

“I’ve come to see you guys to ask if there's anything that we can do to

improve the show?,” he said.

The village council did not offer suggestions, instead listening as Gray added that this was the biggest show the Car Crafters have ever had.

“I had a gentleman do a count at one o'clock. He walked up and down the street and he counted

2,500 people on the streets. Throughout the day, we had about 4,000.

And I don't think it's ever been that big,” he said.

The recent Chipman Car Crafters show was the first car show the club has had in two years from health restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the public porta potties being overwhelmed, the large crowd at the June 5 show created other sur-

prises for the club.

“For the first time ever, we sold out of 50 50 tickets,” said Gray who added that the cash prize netted a total of $1,814 split. “We had two and a half rolls of tickets and we sold out. Next year we will have five rolls.”

The show had more than 350 cars displayed on the streets of Chipman for five hours.

“It was really awesome,” said Gray. “It was a huge success.”

Young entrepreneurs selling lemonade in Mundare Saturday

BY JOHN MATHER This Saturday, June 18, will be Lemonade Day in Mundare.

The town agreed to host the day at their March 15 council meeting.

“We put on the program which teaches young kids how to be entrepreneurs,” said Kathy Dymtriw of Community Futures, Elk Island Region, at the time. “The business that they will run is a lemonade stand.”

She said while the stand would operate for only one day, participants attended a couple of sessions prior to the day learning how to be an entrepreneur.

“We teach them expenses, recipes, how to run a business, how to build a business plan and how to be successful,” Dymtriw said.

She added there is competition among the lemonade stand owners including a taste test competition to see who

may have developed the best lemonade.

At the end of the program a few cash prizes are awarded to the winners. The prizes of $100 locally are for the tastiest lemonade, the best lemonade stand and the best entrepreneur in the area.

“We teach them to make the goals, plan to achieve the goals and then actually achieve those goals,” Dymtriw said. “The program is not set up for failure.”

She said she had to have the town council and the local business community on board for the day.

The town council will establish a special business licence for the lemonade stand owners.

Local business owners are asked to help provide some mentorship to the young entrepreneurs.

“In 2019 across Northern Alberta more than $40,000 was donated to local charities through the program,”

she said. “The kids did really well.”

Kids are provided with a workbook and a backpack which contains several tools to help them in their business. They learn about food safety and through Alberta Health Services, they are provided a food safety certificate.

Lemonade Day was brought to Northern Alberta in 2018 by one Community Futures office and was offered to participants in their region.

Since then, Lemonade Day has spread to 12 Northern Alberta Community Futures regions.

Each child that registers receives a backpack with an Entrepreneur Workbook or access to the "My lemonade Day' app and attends Lemonade University where Community Futures instructors teach them the lessons of Lemonade Day, like creating budgets, setting profit-making goals,

serving customers, repaying investors, and giving back to the community.

Mundare councillor Irene Talaga said she had worked with the program in 2019 as a judge and said it was a great time.

“It’s a great program because the kids are so totally involved,” she said. “The kids were all so enthusiastic. I think there were six stands in Vegreville that year.”

Bruderheim to pilot organic waste collection project

BY JANA SEMENIUK The Town of Bruderheim is piloting a new organic waste collection project, slated to begin June 17.

The project will include collecting yard waste such as grass clippings, and food scraps, taking place from June to Oct. this year.

Chief Administrative Officer Patty Podoborozny said the Town’s contract with GFL (Green For Life Environmental) waste collection was up for renewal so it was the

perfect time to get on board with the pilot.

“I just said we have an opportunity to include this (pilot project) on our current rates, and there would be no impact. So, they (town council) were super excited about that.

This project will also save money in the end because the garbage they are taking won’t be as heavy. Plus, it’s environmentally conscious.

Organics will decompose faster when they are kept together,” she said.

To help raise aware-

ness around the project, Podoborozny said a contest is being put together aimed at helping people learn what types of garbage goes where, and she hopes to eventually bring the waste education into the classrooms.

“We want to go to the school and do a compost education piece over there, because I think the kids are the biggest influencers in the family homes,” she said.

While Podoborozny also hopes to see a significant reduction in the waste collection side of

resident’s utility bills come Jan, she said in the meantime there will be hurdles.

“Residents will now have three carts to deal with (instead of two),” she said. In addition, the organics will be collected on Fridays while regular recycle and household waste remains collected on Thursdays.

Podoborozny added that once the pilot has concluded, a public forum will be held to give residents a chance to have their say on the organic waste collection.

We are also investing in healthcare, to ensure our frontline staff have the best tools available to care for patients.

We are committing a total of $81 million towards the expansion of the University of Alberta Brain Centre, the only one of its kind in Western Canada.

The U of A Neurosciences team offer special-

ized care to patients with life-threatening conditions such as strokes, neurological infections, head injuries and tumors.

This funding will go towards doubling their ICU beds and rooms, allowing staff to offer patients the best chance of treatment and recovery.

It is necessary to offer patients specialized care, at any age. Often, seniors have unique needs that can’t be addressed by a one-size-fits-all approach.

Because of this, we are committing more than $6.3 million towards mental health and addiction supports for the elderly and their loved ones. This funding will

help various organizations assist seniors and caregivers with supports like homecare and staff training.

It is our job to make sure that no one falls through the gaps, and that everyone’s unique needs are being met.

This investment is another step forward in building a comprehensive, recovery-oriented system of care that helps everyone get the support they need, when they need it.
