Beaver County schools participate in Pink Shirt Day C.W. Sears School
C.W. Sears School Students and staff at C.W. Sears Elementary School, Tofield School, Ryley School, and Holden Rural Academy participated in Pink Shirt Day on Wednesday, Feb. 26, wearing the colour in a stance against bullying. Originating in Nova Scotia in 2007, Pink Shirt Day began when a group of teenage boys organized a protest by wearing and distributing pink shirts at their high school in sympathy of a fellow student suffering from bullying. "Pink Shirt Day encourages Albertans to be inclusive, welcoming, and supportive with colleagues, clients, friends and family. Building healthy relationships is one of the best ways to prevent bullying and create safe environments," the Government of Alberta says. PHOTOS SUBMITTED
