Bullarama Supreme attracts record crowds JOHN MATHER The 25th annual Lamont Bullarama Supreme attracted record crowds on May 5 as sunny skies providing mild temperatures helped pull in campers and local visitors alike. “We had 400 more people than last year,” said Lamont Bullarama committee chair Rebecca Joseph. “The attendance was really awesome.” Twenty-five bull riders took part in the event, coming from across Alberta, Saskatchewan and B. C. There were also competitors from Brazil and New Zealand. The event also took a minute of silence to honour Grant Cossey, an instrumental member of the Agricultural Society, who had recently passed away. In the long round: Wyatt Laughlin of Lundbreck, Saskatchewan was first with a score of 83 on the bull Black Cadillac. Quesnel, B.C.’s Lane Cork was second with 81.5 points on a bull named Twenty-five; and Shane Perry of Delburne was third with 80 points riding Couch Potatoe. In the Canadian Championship round only Matt O’Flynn from Quesnel, B.C. scored points finishing first with 83 points on Done Talkin. O’Flynn also collected first place money for average with a score of 400 points. Second place went to Laughlin with 360 points, while Cork rounded out the top three in average with 320 points. In the total event money and points O’Flynn went home with first prize having won 700 points and collected $4,682 in prize money. Laughlin captured second in total event money with 560 points taking home $2,766. Cork finished in third with 500 points and took home $1,915 in prize money. Joseph reported more than 600 volunteers helped to ensure the bullarama went smoothly. She added KG Enterprises was a great help to the Society leading up to the event as they were able to fix and repair bleachers and make sure the bucking chutes were in top condition. She noted the Agricultural Society would be celebrating its centennial during the Summer Sizzler Rodeo to be held July 13-15.

THAT WENT SIDEWAYS
