Tofield School Awards Night honours 70 students Kari Janzen Staff Reporter The Tofield School held their annual Awards Night on Thursday, October 26 in the school gym. Gabriel Hall (Grade 10) and Kita Janzen (Grade 12) were the evening’s emcees. In attendance was the Battle River School Division’s new superintendent, Rhae-Ann Holoien, BRSD trustee Lyle Albrecht, Beaver County Councillor Lionel Williams, and Mayor of the town of Tofield Deb Dueck. Seventy Tofield School students were acknowledged for their excellence in athletics, academics, and citizenship. Achieving the Junior Athletic Awards were female Most Valuable Players (MVPs) Kate Chicoine (Badminton), Elezebeth Hillyer (Basketball), Charli L'Heureux (Track & Field), Brooklyn Ochitwa (Volleyball), and male MVPs Keagan Forrest (Basketball), Brent Hanasyk (Cross Country and Golf), Colton Kuflay (Track & Field), and Koston McNabb (Volleyball). Achieving the Senior Athletic Awards were female MVPs Gabrielle Woodruff (Badminton), Rayden Henry (Basketball), Amy-Lynn Fraser (Track & Field), Kayden Strilchuk (Volleyball), and male MVPs Christian Amirault (Badminton), Bryson Hymanyk (Badminton and Volleyball), Victor Didusenko (Basketball), Damien MacLeod (Basketball and Cross Country), Weston Wideman (Track & Field), and Derek Liptak (Golf). Those receiving Honours in grade nine were Harlyn Anderson, Joel Boese, Xavier Bomiel, Adri Freeman, Karys Gallinger, Gabriel Hall, Elezebeth Hillyer, Raghav Khanna, Hudson Kugler, Corbin Lutz, Presley Perry, Gavin Reeves, and Becca Scott.

Grade 9 First Class Honours was awarded to Ellie LeBlanc, Charli L’Heureux, and Erika Swedberg. L’Heureux and Swedberg also tied for the Highest Overall Average Award. Those in grade 10 awarded with Honours were Peter Asante, Ava-Rae Barnes, Ben Behiels, Jared Clennin, Mercedes Fisher, Sofie Lindskog, Dawson McPhee, and Madison Zemlak. William Hill achieved First Class Honours and the Highest Overall Average. Those in grade 11 receiving academic Honours were Louis Dumont-Powder, Hailey Gillette, Walter Hayduk, Monika Hemperger, Jarah Hill, Bryson Hymanyk, Kita Janzen, Belle Ray, Avery Stevenson, Callie Svenson, Josh Swedberg, Mataya Tyler, and Payton Yurkowski. Achieving grade 11 First Class Honours were Bailee Kowalchuk, Gabrielle Woodruff, and Kendra Yuha. Ansh Dimri was awarded First Class Honours and the Highest Overall Average.
