Daysland School Grade 9 students, along with Daysland Legion Branch members, visited Daysland Cemetery this past Monday, Nov. 6, where for the second year running they took part in the No Stone Left Alone ceremony, where students placed a poppy on the gravestones of every veteran buried in Daysland Cemetery. Remembrance Day ceremonies taking place throughout Flagstaff County Leslie Cholowsky Editor
There are Remembrance Day ceremonies taking place throughout Flagstaff County this week. In Alliance, there is a ceremony at the Community Centre on Saturday, Nov. 11, please be seated by 10:30 a.m. All are welcome, and a potluck lunch follows the ceremony. In Galahad, Rev. Stephen Haughland will conduct a Cenotaph Service on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. (outdoors) All are welcome to attend. In Daysland, the Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the Daysland Community Hall, with free lunch and entertainment. All are welcome to attend. At the Daysland School, a ceremony will be held on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 9 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
In Lougheed, the C.J. Kinross VC Branch will hold a Remembrance Day ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 10:45 a.m. All are welcome to attend. In Hardisty, The Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a ceremony at the Hardisty Elks Hall on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 10:30, with a pot luck lunch to follow the service. As well, donations will be accepted for the Flagstaff Food Bank that day. In Killam, The Royal Canadian Legion will be holding their outdoor ceremony at the Cenotaph, starting at 10:45, followed by an indoor service at The Living Room on Saturday, Nov. 11. At Killam Public School, there will be a ceremony held on Friday, Nov. 10, starting at 10:30 a.m. and the public are welcome to attend. In Sedgewick, there will be a march to the cenotaph on Saturday, Nov. 11,
starting at 10:45 a.m. All are welcome to take part. In Forestburg, the Forestburg School is holding their service on Friday, Nov. 10, starting at 10:30 a.m. and the public is welcome to take part.
The Battle River Pipes and Drums will be sending one of their pipers to each of the Nov. 11 ceremonies taking place throughout the region and to Irma this year to take part in the official ceremonies.
