Kevin Smook seeking UCP nomination I am a Conservative . . . I believe the UCP is the most Conservative party in Alberta : Smook MOUSH JOHN Editor

Former Alberta Party member Kevin Smook will be seeking nomination for the United Conservative Party (UCP) in the Camrose constituency.

“We need a strong voice for rural Alberta,” Smook said. “We need someone who works for the people and understands that you are the boss!” Currently the Beaver County Reeve, Smook’s political career spans-

more than eight years serving on the Beaver County Council. He was elected in 2013 and acclaimed in the 2017 and 2021 municipal elections. Council also elected him as Reeve in 2014, and he is deeply entrenched in the community serving

on many boards. “I ran for the Alberta Party in the 2019 provincial election,” Smook added. “And while there was a conservative connection with them, I know that the strongest conservative movement is the UCP in the

province and I feel much more aligned here. “I am a Conservative . . . there are a great many conservative people in our constituency and I’ve been encouraged by many of them to run for Continued on Page 4

Tofield U7-1 shines in Blackfalds MOUSH JOHN EDITOR

The Tofield U7-1 team displayed their skills on ice this past weekend in a tournament in Blackfalds competing with four teams in their age group. According to the rules, no score is recorded officially at this age, but Tofield players clearly came out on top. “Our team had great success in this tournament as every single skater achieved some sort of milestone sucess,” said Head Coach Craig Neufeld. “Whether it was their first goal, making an outlet pass they have been working on for the past month, or just managing to get a couple of shots on net. “Tofield managed to

dominate each game in every manner, which allowed our more advanced players to work on their defensive-zone habits.” Neufeld added that the players were in awe playing in the new Blackfalds Arena, thinking they were on an NHL surface. “Our U7-1 team has had a busy season this year with right around 25 games in schedule and continuing our standard practice slot,” he said. “This is because of an eager parents’ group in which the kids had no games last year and an organized manager in Lauren Lungal. Another highlight of the season was our trip to the Edmonton Oil Kings game where they got to participate in a shootout on the Rogers Place ice during intermission!”
