Caribbean Connection (CSME) There is strength in unity! Twelve (12) of the fifteen (15) CARICOM member states have finally decided to come together to live, work and trade in one economic space, by signing on to the CARICOM Single Market and Economy, CSME in the year 2006. Almost a decade later, it seems as if CARICOM has truly up the ante. They realized that the human resources of each member states must be properly utilized if they want to see progress of the CSME. Therefore, they used students, to carry out the mission of “students engaging CSME through field promotions”. As part of this mission, 19 students of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, were given the opportunity to go to another member state, St. Kitts and Nevis to be immersed in the CSME to make an assessment. Three (3) of the 10 students are currently on the CYA’s committee SVG, along with female Youth Ambassador Ferdinand. As the batch of dedicated young people at the tertiary level set out to reach the objective of becoming fully educated about CARICOM, they were exposed to careers and the other business opportunities in St. Kitts and Nevis.

ORANGE YOUR WORLD The United Nations Secretary-General’s UNiTE To End Violence Against Women campaign was launched in 2008. The campaign has resulted in the 25th of every month being designated as “Orange Day”. The CARICOM Youth Ambassadors’ (SVG) Committee has answered the #orangeyourworld call and joined the effort to raise public awareness and increased political will and resources for preventing and ending all forms of violence against women and girls throughout the world. The committee has taken to social media to raise awareness among local youths by sharing articles and other media aimed at heightening understanding of the issues surrounding violence against women and girls. Members have also been utilizing their personal networks with appropriately hash-tagged orange day “selfies” indicating their commitment and stimulating the interest of their colleagues.
