Engaging the palimpsestic field
Engaging the Palimpsestic field is a proposal for a Natatorium and therapeutic center that negotiates the conditions of a shifting terrain, and suggests an architecture that becomes part of the unfolding of the ground. The underlying concept of this proposal is to provide opportunity to occupy sites in which the architecture would be challenged. The chosen site for the Natatorium is North Riverfront Park, located north of the Chain of Rocks canal within the floodplain, this site is unlike other riverfront amenities; there are no levees, flood walls or other river infrastructure that disable access to the river.

self-discovery youth center
Given the existing socio-economic conditions in St. Louis, this project proposes a youth center that provides opportunity to children and young adults to learn and discover their interests. The architecture speaks of the extension of public space from street to building, allowing to visually connect the occupant of the space with the outside.

place-making in rural communities The Chapel in San Martin de las Canas is specific to the site and its surroundings, its design serves as a mediator between the landscape and the people of San Martin. Strategically, it becomes the landmark, and the gathering place of the town. The main gesture of the Chapel is to serve as an envelope that wraps the public into the “light vessel”, which translates the space from public to worship.

Nexus
the backbone
Fashion + Architecture Performance Enhancing Critic - Chandler Ahrens In collaboration Garrett House
Nexus utilizes advanced techniques in Maya, Rhino, and Grasshopper + Kangaroo Physics, while understanding the scale of the human body. Individual modules are designed for locations on the figure based on formal and structural performance. Variations of the 3d-printed PLA modules begin to morph and blend to fit the contour of the human figure. Elastic cabling is articulated to form a structural webbing connection system. This wearable becomes a spectacle of the human evolutionary phenomenon.

Texturing light This reading lamp design involves the integration of three seperate volumes, each one made with different materials and with different ranges of opacity Each volume is layered differently, ranging from three layers of opacity in the outer volume, to one layer in the center volume. With a variance of pattern and texture, the shadows produced have an organic appearance.

Activating the vertical field The Univer[CITY] project proposes a transformative reconfiguration to the use of the vacant Railway Exchange Building in Downtown St.Louis. Occupation occurs in individual vertical slabs that eradicate the horizontality currently existing, and promote vertical movement.

Roux | Tremé Context - New Orleans National Design Competition 2nd Place Team Collaboration
nomas national design competition
The Roux Tremé is an invigorating proposal to the current problematic caused by the presence of highways along the main street of Clairborne in the Treme neighborhood. This proposal’s main goal is to reconnect two disjointed communities by implementing gathering areas and community activities under the highway. Simple aspects of landscape, materials and form mix together to create a versatile use of the space.

Strategic Pixelation Context - Miami, FL Environmental Systems II Critic - Chandler Ahrens Team Collaboration
Strategic Pixelation is a prototypical facade design solution to the typical glass facade office buildings. Located in a hot, humid climate. the parametric design mitigates solar heat gain. By analyzing and evaluating current interior environment conditions with DIVA software, performative goals were determined; through iterative design processes the parametric facade was implemented.
