“FEEDING THE PLANET, ENERGY FOR LIFE” DESIGN STRATEGIES 1. SHAPE FACTOR OPTIMIZATION, INTRODUCING A CENTRAL ATRIUM WITH AN OPERABLE GLAZED ROOF FOR NATURAL ILLUMINATION AND

VENTILATION.

2. DEFINITION OF SHADING SOUTHERN, WESTERN AND EASTERN BALCONIES FOR MITIGATION OF SUMMER OVERHEATING.


SUSTAINABLE STRATEGIES • DURING SUMMER DAY: CROSS VENTILATION, THROUGH AN OPERABLE ATRIUM

ROOF.

• DURING WINTER: HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM PLUS CLOSING THE ATRIUM FOR GREENHOUSE EFFECT PRODUCTION

• IN 4 FACADES: HYDROPONIC WALLS FOR ATMOSPHERIC HEATING REDUCTION AND ENVIRONMENT HUMIDIFICATION IN SUMMER.

• IN THE 5TH FACADE: GREEN ROOF IN ORDER TO RETAIN PRECIPITATION IN WINTER AND SOLAR PANELS TO ENERGY PRODUCTION.


ACTIVE PHYTOREMEDIATION WALL SYSTEM VENTILATED OUTSIDE AIR IS PROVIDED INTO

THE BUILDING BY THE HVAC SYSTEM. OXYGEN IS USED UP AND TOXINS ARE ADDED AS THE AIR IS AFFECTED BY PEOPLE AND OTHER CONTRIBUTORS. AS THE POLLUTED AIR MOVES THROUGH THE PHYTOREMEDIATI ON WALL THE ROOT RHIZOMES DIGEST THE TOXINS AND REPLENISH THE OXYGEN. THEN CLEAN AIR IS RETURNED TO THE INTERIOR ENVIRONMENT.

THE ELECTROACTIVE DYNAMIC DISPLAY SYSTEM (EDDS) HAS THE POTENTIAL TO ACTIVELY RECONFIGURE ITS BASIC PATTERNS IN RESPONSE TO ENVIRONMENTAL FLOWS.

CONCEPT THE THEME “CERNUSCO IN MOVEMENT” IS CONCEIVED UNDER THE IDEA OF DYNAMIZE THE PUBLIC REALM DEFINING THREE NEW PUBLIC SPACES:

1. THE CULTURAL CORRIDOR

(LINKING THE SCHOOL AND LIBRARY WITH THE SITE)

2. THE GREEN PARK (CONNECTING THE VALUABLE LANDSCAPE WITH THE BUILDING)

3. VITTORIA SQUARE (INTEGRATING THE HISTORICAL CONTEXT WITH THE SITE)


THIS MULTIPURPOSE BUILDING CONNECTS A BIG PARK WITH A GYM AND A TERRACE, LINKING BOTH LEVELS BY A BRIGDE AND GREEN RAMP, BOTH PROVIDES GREAT VIEWS TOWARDS THE PARK, BELOW THE

RAMP A CAFETERIA WITH AN EXPANSION ON THE PARK, AT THE SAME TIME WORKS AS A HALL FOR AN UNDERGROUND CONFERENCE

ROOM, WHILE EXHIBITION AREAS ARE DIRECTLY CONNECTED WITH

VITTORIA SQUARE.
