Style

My photography style is bright, bold, and classic. I love photos that are true to color without filters. I want my portraits to stand the test of time that look great now and will still look great in 20 years. My heart for photography senior girls is more than simply creating beautiful images though. I have a passion for making young women feel beautiful and confident. I want each girl in front of my lens to feel her best, to feel confident, and to have an unforgettable experience with me. She will know her beauty and her value.

1 ...............................

You get to be you.

...............................

My number one goal for your session is that you look like your authentic self. I want your true personality to shine through your images. If you want a fun session that shows off your bubbly personality, I will capture images that portray fun. If you want a high fashion session that shows off your serious side with the latest trends, I will do that too. Whatever you want for your session, we will make it happen.

Bright & Bold Style

...................................

I believe in creating images that are true to color and classic. They will look exactly like what you see in person, except brighter. I want images that will still be beautiful in 20 years. I don't put dark or off-color presets on my images because those editing styles are just trends and they will go out of style in a few years. I want my images to stand the test of time.

3......................... Client Closet

......................... I understand that your senior year is full of expenses, so I have built a small (and growing) client closet that all of my clients have access to. I have long dresses and short dresses, short sleeve and long sleeve, rompers, cute jackets, cardigans, sweaters, and more. My pieces come in a variety of sizes to accommodate different body types. Each of my clients will have the chance to come try on garments before their session to pick out the best outfits to rock their session. You are welcome to wear your own clothes if you prefer.

locations

A city location is a great option if you want to have a lot of variety in your photos. From buildings, to sidewalks, to steps, to parking garages, a city location will have a lot of options of backdrops for photos. Around the Jackson metro area, there are lots of different types of city location options including more upscale areas and also shopping areas.

locations

A rural location is a great option if you want a more natural look for your photos. Rural locations capture a beautiful background, but they truly showcase your beauty in images without distractions around. Options can include open fields, lakes or ponds, barns, gardens, or parks. We can also do your session on private land.

.................................. Defining Your Style .................................. Your senior session is a time to have fun with your outfit choices. I encourage girls to choose at least one dressy outfit and one trendy outfit. It's a great chance to pick a beautiful outfit you like but might not wear on a daily basis. It's your time to shine, girl.

so just be you 22

outfit tips Stuck on what to wear? I’m here to help! I have my client closet and you are welcome to wear any of the pieces for your session. If you don't want to wear anything from my client closet, here are a few of my favorite tips and tricks to help guide your outfit choices! You can also get some “what to wear” inspo on my fashion Pinterest boards. Let me know if you want the link.

Layers

A denim jacket, blazer, or cardigan can help pull a look together. A well-fitting outer layer will enhance your body’s silhouette and photograph nicely. It also gives you something to do with your hands.

Simple Jewelry

A simple necklace and earrings, or your everyday watch should be all the jewelry you need. Your images should accentuate your personality, face, and eyes. No need to draw unwarranted attention toward accessories, especially because they can easily date the photograph.

Solid Colors

Solid colors like blue, greens, purples, and pinks will photograph best and work well with most backgrounds. Solid colors work great especially for close-ups. The focus will be on you rather than your outfit. Bright colors really can make a photo POP too. Simple, subtle patterns like stripes can also be flattering. 23

Full Outfits

Every outfit should be styled head to toe including the proper shoes, jewelry, undergarments, and props. That way you are not missing anything on the day of the shoot.

styling your photos Shoes

Your shoes can show up in some of your favorite poses. Make sure to not only have the appropriate footwear per outfit, but also that shoes are clean and presentable.

Steam or Iron

All your clothing should be steamed or ironed and arrive to the shoot on hangers. Wrinkles are very obvious in photographs, and I do not edit them out.

Touchup Makeup

Bring Translucent Powder or Oil Blotters. While in real life a bit of shine can give you a “dewy glow, it can unfortunately look oily on camera.

Hands

A natural manicure, with clear or no polish, will help keep your hands looking presentable. Hands show up in a lot of poses, especially headshots and when working with props.

Glasses Glare

If you wear glasses and do not want to do your session without them, we will need to be mindful of posing you in ways that the light does not hit your lenses.

Props

Have fun and show your personality with fun props in your senior portraits. This can be done through sports equipment, a musical instrument, a hobby, or even a pet. (Be sure to check with me about pets beforehand. I don't do snakes. No sir, no ma'am.) 24

I highly recommend having your hair and makeup done by a professional before your senior session! This truly elevates your senior portrait experience. Having photo-ready makeup and hair can take your stress off the day and let you sit back, relax, and enjoy getting ready to be in front of the camera. Once you book your session with me and pay your retainer fee, I would be happy to help you book an appointment with the hair stylist and makeup artist for a couple hours before our session time.

hair and makeup Helpful

tips If you decide to forego the professional hair and makeup and you want to do your own, please come to your session ready to go. I recommend doing heavier makeup on your eyes than you usually do so it shows up better on camera. Do not cut or color your hair right before your session. It should be at least two weeks before your session. 26

the session

We will meet at our decided location. You can follow me in your car to our other locations. Plan to use your car as your changing room for other outfits.

Your mom is encouraged to come and be my second set of eyes. She can help adjust bra straps, smooth stray hairs, and fix accessories.

I will show you how I want you to pose for photos. Don't worry about this. Just follow my lead.

Be sure to pack a comb or brush and your makeup to have for touchups as needed throughout the session. 36

We will set an appointment to meet with you and your parents within two weeks of your session so I can show you your gallery of images. We can also order your prints, album, and/or wall art pieces.
