about my

Style

My photography style is bright, airy, and classic. I love photos that are true to color without filters. I want my portraits to stand the test of time that look great now and will still look great in 20 years. My heart for photography senior girls is more than simply creating beautiful images though. I have a passion for making young women feeling beautiful and confident. I want each girl in front of my lens to feel her best, to feel confident, and to have an unforgettable experience with me. She will know her beauty and her value.

.

To book your senior session, you will need to pay a 50% retainer fee. I will email you a contract for the session. Please sign the contract and return it with the retainer to hold the date.

.

.

Before

I will send you a link to the senior questionnaire. This will help me get to you know you and give me ideas for your senior session.

I will show you galleries from previous senior sessions to help you decide what kind of locations you envision for your senior session.

.

About a week prior to your session, you will be able to text me outfit options so we can decide which outfits you will wear for your photos.

During

We will meet at our decided location. You can follow me in your car to our other locations. Plan to use your car as your changing room for other outfits.

Your mom is encouraged to come and be my second set of eyes. She can help adjust bra straps, smooth stray hairs, and fix accessories.

I will show you how I want you to pose for photos. Don't worry about this. Just follow my lead.

Be sure to pack snacks and water in case you want to have a little something during outfit changes or when we move locations.

.

After

The night of your session, I make an effort to send you at least 2-3 sneak peeks of your photos in case you want to post them on social media. I will also likely post a photo of you on my social media. I begin culling through all your images to find the absolute best of the best. My goal is to provide a minimum of 30-35 beautiful, edited images for a one hour session, and 60-70 images for a two hour session.

.

Within two weeks of your session, I will send you an email or text with the link to your online gallery. You will be able to review and download your images straight from this gallery. You will also be able to order prints directly from this gallery. I will send you a request for review of your photo session with me. Reviews help me with future session and also help with future referrals to my senior experience.

city

locations

A city location is a great option if you want to have a lot of variety in your photos. From buildings, to sidewalks, to steps, to parking garages, a city location will have a lot of options of backdrops for photos. Around the Jackson metro area, there are lots of different types of city location options including more upscale areas and also shopping areas.

locations

A rural location is a great option if you want a more natural look for your photos. Rural locations capture a beautiful background, but they truly showcase your beauty in images without distractions around. Options can include open fields, lakes or ponds, barns, gardens, or parks. We can also do your session on private land.

............................... Defining Your Style ............................... Your senior session is a time to have fun with your outfit choices. I encourage girls to choose at least one dressy outfit and one trendy outfit. Its a great chance to pick a beautiful outfit you like but might not wear on a daily basis. It's your time to shine, girl.

so just be you 9

Outfit Tips Stuck on what to wear? I’m here to help! Here are some of my favorite tips and tricks to help you guide your outfit choices! You can also get some “what to wear” inspiration on my fashion inspo Pinterest boards https://www.pinterest.com/carliannphotography/.

1. Be Comfortable The most important thing is for you to feel comfortable in what you wear. If you feel uncomfortable, it might show in your images. You can wear absolutely beautiful pieces and still be comfortable. In your photos, we will be sitting on the ground and possibly even laying down for some shots. If you wear dresses or skirts, consider wearing shorts under so nothing shows when we are doing those poses.

2. Wear Bright Colors On camera, solid black + white can make skin tones look very washed out and unflattering. So, when you are choosing outfits for your senior session, try to choose colors that POP and that compliment your hair + skin colors!

3. Mix it up When planning your outfits, make sure that you have a VARIETY of looks like casual, cozy, and/or dressy. I always recommend choosing 2-3 of those categories and finding outfits accordingly. This provides a beautiful array of looks during your senior portrait session, so each outfit looks dramatically different!

Bonus Tip Beautiful, fancy dresses, especially maxi dresses are beautiful In rural locations like open fields.

I HIGHLY recommend that you have your hair and makeup done by a professional before your senior session! This truly elevates your senior portrait experience. Having photo-ready makeup and hair can take your stress off the day and let you sit back, relax, and enjoy getting ready to be in front of the camera. I have a collaboration with hair stylists and makeup artists in Ridgeland and Brandon that I highly recommend.

hair and makeup Helpful

tips If you decide to do your own hair and makeup, please come to your session ready to go. I recommend doing heavier makeup on your eyes than you usually do so It shows up better on camera. Do not cut or color your hair right before your session. It should be at least two weeks before your session.
