WHY ME ?

STATEMENT of INTEREST

Architecture should be craftsmanship, sustainable, contextual and human-centered. Finding those topics through your projects developed me a clear interest for your practice. During nine months in Antwerp, I have been in touch with new ideas of architecture radically different from my mediterranean background. Here I found interesting references—such as Dom Hans Van der Laan—that I feel coincides with some of your themes in architecture. Ultimately, dealing with housing is a present challenge for the future, humanise and rethink dwellings as you do in your last projects of Neder-over-Heembeek and Schaarbeek, decided me to reach you.

RECOMMENDATION and MOTIVATION LETTERS

Carlos is a open-minded, organised and creative person. I find those adjectives basic in architecture practice. Moreover, my interest in dwelling development as well as my education in international atmospheres and workgroups will help me to fit in your studio. My actual research about spatiality and human body as the center for architecture can also enrich your approach to a project. A plus to consider is a strong education in building culture and urban design which can help during architectural process of conceiving and locating a project and it’s open spaces which build a community.

As Associate Professor of Spatial Planning and Strategy at TU Delft, it is with great pleasure that I recommend Carlos Prisco Carrasco Barra as a prospect asset to your studio. I met Carlos Prisco at the TU Delft Planning and Design with Water Summer School in July 2018. He was selected amongst 300 candidates from all over the world, with an excellent application and subsequent great participation in our school

During the course, Carlos Prisco developed a proposal for the Renovation of an area in the city of The Hague as a collaborative research project between TU Delft, City of The Hague, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, the Dutch Delta Programme, ARCADIS, Deltares and others private and public partners. He focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and The New Urban Agenda, gaining insight into how to connect SDGs and sustainable urban design, while developing leadership and negotiation skills His open personality, capacity to work in a multinational group and to lead this group impressed me and will be likely impressive to his future working partners.

Carlos Prisco is genuine, open hearted, thoughtful and wonderful to work with All of the above leads me to recommend him highly. I believe he has an enormous potential for growth and great achievements in his academic and professional careers. Please don't hesitate to contact me at r.c.rocco@tudelft.nl if you have any Dr.RSincerely,questions.obertoRoccoRobertoRocco,

NEW DIGITAL ART CENTER in MALAGÓN Art and PolytechnicCultureUniversity of Madrid Thesis - Unit Herreros 2022

The notable concentration of the Spanish population results in a centralisation of political interest to satisfy the urban part of the country, even to the detriment of the rural. The distribution of infrastructures is just one example of this.

NEW DIGITAL ART CENTER I N 22O2SISEHT-NÓGALAM -

Ex Machina deals with the problems of Spain’s first AVE line, the one that linked Madrid to Seville in 1992. The high-speed train has become the insignia of national pride and progress but, at the same time, it has sentenced certain rural regions to demographic doom. This is the case of the section between Madrid and Ciudad Real, the longest between stops in the whole network. Built on the old conventional line, it has left the regions of Montes de Toledo and Campo de Calatrava without connection or industry. The new infrastructure calls for a non-conventional approach to the problem, understanding the new times and speeds. Only in this way can the symbiosis between the ‘two Spains’ really be achieved.

The dialectic of the ‘two Spains’ becomes more evident in scenarios such as population distribution. 90% of Spaniards occupy only 15% of the national territory, mainly concentrated in Madrid and on the coast. This is known as ‘urban Spain’. The remaining almost 6 million inhabitants are distributed radially around the capital, subsisting on the primary sector and the infrastructures that link the urban country, creating a popular imaginary of the countryside that we all know: petrol stations, ruins and Osborne bulls.

The essence of the Impasse typology resides in the privacy accomplished of a semi-public street. This project is mainly focused in developing a rowhouse complex through hand-drawing and modelConceptsmaking. of ‘intelligent ruin’ and future re-use are key to understand the proposal.

Is still room for change when the structure is already given?

That premise is key for the development of the idea. During the semester plans were pushed to their limits and facades were studied in order to refer to the surrounding port warehouses.
