Cali Valle del Cauca Colombia Bermúdez Arquitectos 2019 Landscape and Urbansim Public Competition: Finished 670.000m2 Task: Part on the design team for the realization of plans and diagrams Programs: Autocad.
The project is meant to commence a process to recover biodiversity, through the development of an ecological passageway as an environmental, urban and landscape proposal. The Cali river connects two ecoregions: The mountain forest and the river mouth 50km into the dry tropical forest of Valle del Cauca. The canopy is the roof of the forest where 40% of the biodiversity lies. Due to the location of the urban-ecosystem, it is essential to rethink Cali, like a botanical city, able to value and propose a recovery process for the biodiversity in the region. This proposal seeks to rethink and recover the river and adjacent areas in a series of strategic interventions in the area.

Moray, Maras Peru Center of Scientific Research, Cultural Expansion and Luxury. Bermúdez Arquitectos 2019 Privet Competition: Finalist 4.562m2 Task: Part of the design team for the production of architectural drawings Programs: Autocad
Starting with an examination of the historical territory, that values the Incas terraces which still prevail to this day at the architectural location of Moray near Cuzco. The objective of this project is to highlight the context of “mimetizase” with the topography, with the means to feature the views visuales and devastated areas as spaces to develop the project. The proposal that emanated from the visit to the area, seeks to redefine the boundaries of the estate, to be marked by its natural limits. off by a break in the vegetation, considered as the natural line. The building is composed of two breaks of 10.6 each depth by 117m and 127m long set back one over the other. Separate by a main patio that complement the program but also contributes with illumination and ventilation inside the diferent spaces. Constrictive the building use concrete and masonry because of its efficiency and cost, by modulating the entire program the aim is to optimize the constructive process whit modules of 4,20 x 7,80 using walls in both directions and intermediate columns in the larger areas.

Bogotá Colombia Bermúdez Arquitectos Vertical Universitary Campus Task: Part of the team for the production of architecutral drawings. Programs: Autocad.
This project was a the result of competition based on the clash between the lack of space in the “expanded center” and the demand for equipment for higher education. As a consequence of the campus vertical typology, comes as a logical response to the conflict of these two conditions. Due to its strategic location in the intersection of two of the main roads of the nor occidental border of the “expanded center” and because of the size of the lot, the building gets its vertical character. Because of this, the proposal is base on square shape implantation of 60m by 60 with 12 floors and also sports facilities on the roof. Its simple but efficient structure makes it possible to maximize the flexibility for future uses required by the university. On the other hand, the circulation system is base on a series of mechanical stairs in the center were also located; bathrooms, the technical rooms, and the emergency stairs in the corners. By doing this the perimetral areas are liberated to place study zones as well as other complementary programs. Each floor is ajusted to generate a diversity of common areas, floors whit classrooms, and study zones, an entire floor dedicate to the library, and office spaces whit intermediate rest spaces or terraces whit double height comose the distribution of the program in the volume.

The location of the site can be considered as a typical case of the hot zones of Colombia. Located 450 m.a.s.l. with an average temperature of 25.5 ° C and a thermal sensation increased by relative humidity close to 80%. The project seeks to respond to the thermal conditions to provide comfort for the entire campus, with this objective in mind, different strategies have been proposed that taking into account various bioclimatic factors to respond to the climatic conditions, which are most common to different areas of Colombia.
The ratio of sunlight of the volumes of the classrooms with 5 floors is prioritized with respect to the volume of administration that gives access to the university and requires a double skin with openwork to protect the interior areas from the morning and afternoon sun. On the other hand, in terms of ventilation and noise, the classrooms are located next to “patios of silence” through which the air enters the classrooms and when passing through an acoustic trap it refreshes the circulation and ends in another draft between both classroom buildings, guaranteeing cross ventilation without detracting from the comfort of the classrooms.
The exterior areas of the project are developed in two main squares located between the 3 volumes. Permeable soils were projected as well as native vegetation to complement the bioclimatic value that the project was intended to give. Finally, water management was a central issue, and three dry or buildable areas, runoff or squares and areas of these and flooded or rain gardens and ponds are typified.

Bermúdez Arquitectos & Amann–Cánovas–Maruri Master plan for the first step of the social housing project/ 57,500 m2 Task: Part of the design team for the production of drawings, diagrams and plans Programs Used: Autocad, Rhinoceros
The development of this project was a partnership between the Madrid studio Amann – Cánovas – Maruri together with the Bogotanos Bermúdez Arquitectos. What I contribute with a balance between an international reflection in addition to an extensive local knowledge. As a result, it is a multi-secular project from urbanism, architecture and landscaping. The project seeks to generate a fine-grained fabric permeable to the context through strategies of how; a pedestrian street, a square with programs that reinforce and complement activities in the sector and a meeting corner that typologically opens up to the context in the manner of a meeting point for the community closest to the neighborhood. Each of the 4 buildings has approximately 250 homes, their volume is variable due to their intention to adjust to the public space. Promoting the use of green roofs with complementary programs for each building. The types of housing are designed to give the greatest possible internal flexibility, by bringing together all the services in a single wall of the house (kitchen, bathroom, laundry and storage), the rest of the space is intended to be liberalized so that it can be easily adaptable in the home. time to the needs of each user.

Cartagena Bolívar Colombia Pontifical Xaveriana University and P.E.I. Public Competition: 2nd share place Task: Team leader for the architectural proposal. Programs: Autocad, Revit, InDesign
The project started as a joint proposal developed between the design studio New Territories and the International Studies Program at Xaverian University (or P.E.I. in Spanish), participating at a professional level, in a nationwide contest on social housing. The concept of a “green machine” begins with the understanding of the house as a minimum structure of a large-scale complex dwelling system. In essence it’s based on the harmonic relationship between the landscape and urban development. As a result of research and the disadvantages of conventional construction systems in the area, the project used a construction material similar to bamboo called “Guadua Agustifolia” which is widely used in other regions, and is also involved in promoting local economic development. Overall. Due to the disappearance of the mangroves as a result of urbanization and other human activities, the damage in the water cycle in the city lead to floods in various populated areas near the coast of the swamp “La Virgen”. As a possible reply to this recurrent problematic, cultivating “guadua agustifolia” and using it as a natural barrier, helps the restoration of mangroves and the raw material becomes the source for the future urban construction. This creates a system in which the urbanization ends up being a contributor to sustainable development in the area. In relation to the individual houses, the team developed a series of strategies: 1) Elevating the units from the ground approximately 1.2m reduces the impact on the soil and at the same time the dwelling becomes a gesture of the vernacular architecture of the region. 2) The houses come with the basic program, and are built in such a way they can be further developed inward and turned into additional living spaces without modifying the outside structure, to suit each individual requirement.
3) The units create a variety of community spaces such as access terraces, stairs and gardens that explore different kinds of private-public relationships between the whole neighborhood.

Architecture 2017 Ciudad Bolivar, Bogotá Colombia Universidad Javeriana Social interest housing. Task: Production of concepts, strategies, plans and diagrams. Programas: Autocad, Rhinoceros, Photoshop, InDesign
The aim of the project, was to investigate the neighborhood of Potosi, located in Ciudad Bolivar, one of Bogota´s main areas of informal settlements, begging by making a lecture of the territory and fallow by the development of a proposal based on the some of the conclusions. Firstly, by identifying and characterize the neighborhood in three main areas, we conclude that on the one hand, due to the presence of symbolic places such as a peregrination spot on the high of a hill and the a lineal park in the frontier whit other neighborhood, that is appropriated by artistic groups, the area of study have a great potential for the development a web of relationships between different kinds of actor in the territory. Secondly and as a result of some interviews with some people, we could identify some dangerous activities, related to vandalism and micro-trafficking, centralize on a small area. Finally, we conclude that some of the streets (more than 50%) act as intermittent catalysts of urban activities. Giving place to different kinds of encounter between people and also by make the street a participative areas of various actors. Base on the experience of the community work made by the school and the self-managed theater (Potocine by Arquitectura Expandida), the project propose begins by the implementation of a “seeding” for young people that aims to encourage the technical training of this population. The seedbeds program is composed of one training area on the first level and rooms with shared services on the upper levels, as a co-housing strategy. We propose a steel structure on a shape that respond to the unstable conditions of the territory, on the other hand the facade have the double purpose of being transduced for the inside spaces and to give light to the neighborhood at night, incentivizing the development of other activities.

Cundinamarca, Colombia Studio II Single family Home / 367.50 m2 Task: Concept, production of plans and images. Programs Used: Autocad, Revit.
The project is an experimentation around ways to immerse architecture in the landscape with the aim of generating different qualities in the relationships of light and shadow on the three levels of the building: firstly, an intimate space and contemplation on the lower level. aimed at a direct relationship with the terrain and topography, secondly the access level passes through a wide dark corridor that leads to the social area that rises like a viewpoint at the level of the trees and the landscape and plays with double heights in the more communal areas, finally on the third level the bedrooms are understood as independent volumes that are housed in a very open interior, with which it is intended to reduce the impact of light from the common areas of the private areas. There are intermediate spaces that are hidden from the evident amplitude of the space, such as the study on the first floor, which despite having all the advantages of the proximity of the social area is understood as an extension of privacy in the social area, for On the other side, on the third floor, there is a kind of recreation room for the bedrooms that functions as an auxiliary area to the social area and the study. The circulation branches off on the first level, on the one hand a linear staircase communicates with the lower level of the viewpoint while a spiral staircase covered by a metal cylinder communicates with the third level of the bedrooms, especially the space of the cylinder that surrounds the staircase is conceived as a structuring element of the space in itself because it is an additional transition between light and shadow.
