INSIDE

CARLSBAD The road back... By Scott Chadwick, City Manager We are finally on our way back to some version of normal, following an event that has not occurred in our lifetimes. We will forever be part of the generation that has endured a pandemic. As public servants, we will also be able to say that during this unprecedented time, we made a difference in the lives of our community members. And now, we have an opportunity to help ease our community through the transition back to some of the activities we have all been missing so much. Changes are in store for us too. In March 2020, more than 500 employees switched to remote work almost overnight. Now, we are coming back into our offices and facilities, with new safeguards in place. I look forward to seeing you in person, and I thank you for your service. Through it all, you have been there for our community and each other. I couldn’t be more proud of our team, Team Carlsbad. Scott

LIFE’S MOMENTS

Welcome to Santino Kaimana Luis who was born on July 24! This is the first grandchild for Housing Specialist I Irma Cazarez from Housing Services.

Congratulations to Office Specialist II Ari Cruzada from Housing Services who got engaged in Julian late last year. Best wishes to Environmental Specialist Jacob Feil from Environmental Management who married Taylor on Jan. 14 at the Waterfront Park in San Diego.

Congratulations to Environmental Specialist II Alyssa Wagner who was married to Jackson on Sept. 5, 2020. COVID-19 restrictions and wildfires in the Sierras forced a last-minute change of venue to Alyssa’s grandmother’s ranch. Despite the heat, the wedding turned out beautiful. The Wagners look forward to a vineyard wedding with friends and family on their oneyear anniversary later this year!
