For more than 60 years, Courage Kenny Cards has helped people with disabilities live more independently.

Since 1958, Courage Kenny Cards has proudly featured artwork by artists with disabilities.

The first Courage Kenny Card was a two-color pencil drawing. The success of this card led to the first original fine art collection. Since then, our high-quality cards have featured original, exclusive and museum-quality artwork. Today, more than 400 artists of all abilities from around the world submit artwork annually to be selected for a Courage holiday card. Of those selected, many are created by artists with a disability—a testimony to their boundless abilities.

Progress: After 16 weeks, David has the strength and tools to perform everyday tasks that were difficult before therapy, and he is hardly shaking anymore.

Hobbies: Gehrke coached high school football and hockey. His hobbies included skiing, sailing, golfing and skydiving.

Gehrke continues to be as active as possible with the help of Courage Kenny rehabilitation services.

David Gehrke has had Parkinson’s Disease for 23 years.

Rehabilitation: When Gehrke started experiencing loss of movement and speech, medication wasn’t working.

His doctor recommended the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) Big and Loud Program in Stillwater, Minnesota.

Progress: The intensive schedule brought fantastic results. Bolton regained feeling in his whole body, lowered his blood pressure, stopped all medications, and can walk with assistance in the pool.

He continues to reach new milestones so quickly that there are no limits to his hopes for recovery.

Hobbies: Bolton was a talented basketball player in college. He is still an Rehabilitation: Bolton started the Courage Kenny Activity aspiring lawyer who finished Based Locomotor Exercise (ABLE) Program in October, school while in intensive 2018. In ABLE, Bolton works with fitness specialists recovery, graduating with for four hours a day three days a week. In his free time an Associate in Arts degree he works with a personal trainer and uses a functional with a focus on political electrical stimulation (FES) bicycle at home. science in spring, 2019.

Sam Olson was left paralyzed from the chest down after a preoperative procedure burst a blood vessel in her brain days after her twentieth birthday.

Rehabilitation: In the Transitional Rehabilitation Program (TRP), Olson has been using the new Lokomat® at Courage Kenny in Golden Valley.

The Lokomat® is an exoskeleton with a body weight supported treadmill system that can provide early gait training especially to clients with severe injuries.

Progress: There is no doubt that the Lokomat® has accelerated Olson’s progress. Now she spends the last five minutes of each session without the robotic exoskeleton legs. She’s able to walk on the treadmill with just the body weight support and her therapist guiding her weaker leg. Olson shows unwavering confidence in her future.

New Technology: Courage Kenny Foundation donors generously funded the purchase of the Lokomat® at the October, 2018, Toast to Courage Gala.

The exciting piece of technology was installed in early 2019 and already has a full schedule of client sessions.
