Southwestern Manitoba quickly becoming an art hub
By Vern May Ask someone to name the first thing that comes to mind when you say rural Manitoba and it’s unlikely that they would identify our region as a nerve center for the arts. However, in a number of communities there is a growing migration to and appreciation for arts of various disciplines and it is breathing new life into century old community store fronts in the process. Hamiota is home to the Heritage Arts Centre, which stands as the home base for the Mid-West Arts Council. The building itself was created from the shell of a 1905 bank to develop a warm and inviting exhibition space.
