Patricia Anne Anderson 1943 - 2018

Patricia Anne Anderson, of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, formerly of Carlyle, Saskatchewan, born August 24, 1943 passed away peacefully on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the age of 75 years. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Cedric & Margaret Thompson; husband, Walter (Doc) Anderson; son, Darryl Anderson; grandson, Eric Lanktree; sister, Rosemarie Flynn; brothers-in-law, Glenn Hourd, Philip Kradovill and Cliff Moser. Patricia will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Carrie (Brian) Lanktree of Weyburn, SK; granddaughter, Vanessa Lanktree; son, Stacy (Susan) Anderson of Edmonton, AB; grandsons, Nate & Nash Anderson; companion, Alex Szilagyi of Weyburn, SK and family, Randy (Sharon) Szilagyi and their children, Ryan and Erin; Zandra Slater of Stoughton, SK and her children Alysson and Tyson Slater; sisters, Jean (John) Istace, Mary Kradovill, Ileane Hourd (Don Cameron); brother in law, Allan Flynn as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 1:00 pm from Grace United Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Reverend M. Barnabas of�iciating. Interment will take place at Glen Morris Cemetery, Carlyle, Saskatchewan at a later date. Maryfield Sunrise Villa News Submitted by Janet Mark Eleven people attended the Oct. 3 meeting of the Tenants Association.

Discussion centred on where to set up the Floor Curling game, donated by the Villa Guild. Ted, Fred and Ferne agreed to be the committee in charge.

Since we cannot use the halls and have 12 wheelchairs to park at mealtime, we have only space for one House. The first game took place on Oct 9th, beside the card tables.

The German Mennonite Church of Maryfield held a worship service led by Lucas Ens, with Michael Penner giving the message.

Music was provided by Evelina Neufeld, piano, and Sarah Ens, violin.

Rebecca Penner signed the guest book. Snow brought us to Thanksgiving.

Four bluejays have found the birdfeeder, and a fox was chased by two little dogs around the courtyard.

Circle of Friends last week talked bout Nests.

Ralph had been too late to save a baby bird caught by its leg. Grace had watched a mother bird push all four of her young out of the nest. Fred watched little birds pull wool from the fence. He later saw that they used it to line their nests before laying.

When Freda cleaned her bird house she found it stuffed full of cherry pits. Jessie had found that the only way to discourage barnswallows above your door, was to pour water on their

nests. A cat which Leora rejected in the house soon had 4 kittens outside in the nest.

Mary Thieseen asked, “Has no one a Bee Story?”

For years bees nested in the north wall of a lean to “summer kitchen”. On Christmas Day, 1972, a heavy snowfall bowed in the kitchen roof. A new kitchen was indicated. How to get rid of the bees???

Redvers beekeeper, Angela Wizniak, said, “Call me when they swarm.”

On the first hot summer day the swarm lit in the nearby Manitoba maple.

Mrs Wizniak, in her bee outfit, climbed up and captured the queen. The swarm followed it into a hive she had brought.

She advised us to burn the sections of “foul brood” where the bees hatched. The sections

of comb between the 2x4s would not fit in any extractor. There was a wash boiler, a wash tub and a big pressure cooker full...”warm it just enough to squeeze the honey of of the wax”.

We set up a hot plate in the garage. Yield: 100 pounds of honey.

Maryfield and the Villa are mourning the death of our last Veteran of WWII, Alan Adair.

He had lived here seven years.
