Friends, Welcome to Street Scenes 2022! As we celebrate Carmel Catholic’s 60th anniversary, we pause to reflect on what makes this institution so very special. For the past six decades, Carmel Catholic High School has grown and flourished due to the vision, dedication, passion, and perseverance of our entire community all founded in the belief of providing a mission-based college preparatory education for our students. During that time, traditions have formed, and legacies have been built. We are proud to bring the tradition of Street Scenes back to you, in person, despite the challenges of a global pandemic. This is our 48th year of Street Scenes and we couldn’t be more proud of Carmel’s team of students, parents, faculty, staff, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and friends who have made “Street Scenes Celebrates Carmel’s 60th” a reality. Although this year’s Street Scenes might look a little different from our traditional format, we hope you will enjoy this community event and help us keep the celebration going! Street Scenes plays a large role in accomplishing our Mission by helping to provide access to all who wish to attend Carmel Catholic. Proceeds also supplement the operating budget which allows us to continually provide a five-time Blue Ribbon experience in educational excellence. Thank you for your ongoing support and we hope to see you celebrating on campus! With our gratitude and blessings,
Brad Bonham, Ph.D. Jason Huther President Principal

Last year, we stated that Street Scenes 2021 will go down in history; let’s add 2022 to the history books as well!! We are kicking off this year’s Street Scenes with our beloved Student Show from February 10-12. We are so happy that our talented students have the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. The Student Show has a long tradition at Carmel Catholic, and we are pleased to continue this time-honored tradition in person. Speaking of traditions, everyone loves our Street Scenes event and we are not letting a pandemic hold us back from continuing this 48-year tradition. Join us this summer on July 16th and 17th for our first ever Summer Street Scenes! We are kicking off our event with an outdoor Mass celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and then we will start the party with many of our traditional Street Scenes fun. We will feature bands, food, games, and much more for the whole family to enjoy. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer. I cannot begin to thank everyone who has been flexible and open-minded in making Street Scenes 2022 a reality. We are still in the planning stages, but our directing team has thought outside the box to develop some great ideas to make our Summer Street Scenes come to fruition. We have members of the team who have been around since day one and others who are just joining us this year, all of whom contribute to making this Street Scenes another one for the record books! See you on July 16 & 17!! Michelle Ptasienski ‘92 Director of Volunteer Engagement Director of Street Scenes mptasienski@carmelhs.org 5
February 2022
Dear Carmel Catholic High School Community and Friends, On behalf of the Board of Members and CCHS’ sponsoring congregations, the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Order of Carmelites, we welcome you to the 48th celebration of Street Scenes. This year’s beloved Street Scenes traditions may look a little different because of Covid-19 mitigations, but rest assured that even a global pandemic cannot prevent the entire Carmel Catholic family from celebrating our 60th Anniversary, Street Scenes style! As sponsors of CCHS, we recognize the continual challenges our faculty, staff, and families face to help provide the best college prep Catholic education in a supportive, caring, and safe environment. The Carmel Catholic community is stronger than ever and we are so proud to be part of this cherished institution. As we celebrate our 60th year, we hope you will join us at the Street Scenes Summer Event on July 16 & 17 that begins with a very special Mass celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. May our Lady of Mount Carmel bless each and every one of you as we present Street Scenes Celebrates Carmel’s 60th. Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Rev. Carl Markelz, O.Carm. Prior Provincial, Carmelites
Sr. LaDonna Manternach, BVM President of the BVM Congregation
Board of Members: O.Carm. - Rev. Robert Colaresi, Rev. Carl Markelz, and Brother Daryl Moresco Sisters of Charity, BVM - Sr. Karen Conover, Sr. Teri Hadro, and Sr. Kate Hendel

“Street Scenes Celebrates Carmel’s 60th!” That speaks volumes! The stories behind that kind of legacy is what makes me feel so honored to lead the current Board of Directors at Carmel Catholic High School. Friends of Carmel, My first exposure to Carmel was attending Street Scenes with my alumnus wife, Lisa, and her friends many years ago. I left that event knowing that Carmel was really special and very different from other area high schools, and now, getting ready to watch my fourth and last child graduate this coming May, I understand why. Carmel is a community in the true sense of the word. Everyone is invested and shares common values, interests and goals to provide an exceptional college-prep and faith-filled educational experience. Carmel graduates leave CCHS with confidence, compassion, a sense of mission and belonging, and a drive to excel in whatever the future holds for them. Carmel’s young people are prepared to be successful, respectful, leaders and global citizens who will make a difference in the world. That is why I am so blessed to be part of Carmel Catholic and help keep all of the traditions and opportunities alive and prospering. I hope you will seize the chance to attend one of our many amazing Student Show Performances “We can’t Stop the Party” during February 10-12 and then return to campus on July 16th and 17th for our outdoor Street Scenes weekend extravaganza. We will kick things off with a public Mass of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with a very special Mass Celebrant, and then enjoy our traditional Street Scenes festivities offering music, food, beverages, shows, and fun for the whole family spread across our beautiful campus. Thank you for supporting Carmel Catholic and please know we are committed to growing and strengthening the Carmel experience for all who seek to be part of our Community. With great appreciation,
Ric Elert

Made for the students! By the students! The Carmel Cafe is a student-run coffee shop that provides coffee for our students and faculty. It is open before school, during lunch, and after school while providing amazing coffee for the Carmel community! Profits are reinvested into the student community. We source our coffee from GeekGrind, a fair trade business that supports and sources all their coffee from small farms in Columbia.

Over the Last 20 months, our Leaders, Teachers, and Dedicated Staff have Modeled Christ through their daily commitment to Learning amidst a Pandemic. Our High Schoolers have surely had more emotional, academic and social struggles than normal. However, our teams have taught our teens to live and celebrate the Pascal Mystery daily at the highest levels. The Pandemic will end, but this lesson will carry on in their hearts forever. -fortune restoration87
