[sentence] sushite [sentence] that we can translate as “then” or “and” I finished my homework and then I read manga 私は宿題を終え それから マンガを読んだ Watashi wa shukudai o oe sorekara manga o yonda Or we can say I finished my homework and I am reading manga 私は宿題を終え そして マンガを読んだ Watashi wa shukudai o oe soshite manga o yonda We can see the following useful words To read - 読む - yomu, this can mean also to count but it is rare 読んだ this form yonda is the past form of the verb, in positive way. Please keep in mind that negative form of this verb is 読まなかった yomanakatta 宿題 - shukudai - homework, to do homework, like many action take the verb suru 宿題をする shukudai o suru. 終える - oeru - to finish, but also to graduate. Please note that the present negative form of this verb is 終えない oenai. Example: Have you already finished the work? すでに仕事を終えましたか? Sudeni shigoto o oemashita ka?
