GARAGE

Above garage door cast copy of Zeus mask taken off large fireplace surround at Versailles.

Front and rear gates are comprised of 17th Century Moroccan elements.

The original roof tiles were produced by a small factory in Castroville and are distinguished by random finger marks. They are the same as used by Stevenson old building and Santa Catalina.

The house is equipped with a state of the art instant hot water heater and citrus based non-salt water softener. There are 2 separate high efficiency heaters operating 2 separate zones in the house.

The restoration of the original residence and the addition were done to the original specs of the original building. The entire residence was re-plumbed in copper, all new wiring, all glass is double pane laminated, incoming utilities are underground, Garage is finished and insulated with storage cabinets and is topped by an extensive attic

reached by pull down ladder. In order to maintain the same integrity of the original house 14X18 in. fir beams were purchased from a demolished warehouse in the north bay. This wood was milled in Davenport and attention was paid to preserving the nail and chuck marks. This lumber was used to make all of the interior doors, interior roof paneling and new flooring. In addition the original sawmill blades used to create the texture in the original house ceiling boards were located, purchased and used to replicate the originals milled in the 20’s. All of the doors and hardware was reproduced using the template from the front door. The hardware and locks inclusive of the banisters and stair railing were hand forged in a foundry in San Juan Batista. The top stair landing is crowned by a jeweled stain glass window created for the space. •

The enclosed courtyard wall has a matched pair of Carved Moroccan stone windows from a 17th C castle and is lushly planted with the central focus an 18th C French limestone fountain. Gallery halls ensconced in French limestone floors and illuminated by antique Tiffany shade sconces surround the courtyard with French doors opening from all sides into the courtyard. The dining room is also illuminated by an antique Venetian chandelier and pair of antique French beaded sconces.

The front gate and front entry are flanked by antique light fixtures purchased from one of the early remodels of Tavern on the Green.

The office is composed of built in dark stained book shelves with cabinetry below and houses 3000 volumes, 2 separate desks/workstations and a hidden alarmed safe/gun closet. Centrally located is a French Empire chandelier circa 1790.

The chef ’s kitchen is floored in French limestone and has room for dining table, Professional Viking range, ovens, broiler and refrigerator in addition to the other appliances. There is a large built in china cabinet and all cabinets are equipped with pullout shelves and a large walk-in pantry opens off the kitchen as does the separate laundry room.

All of the bedrooms have private entrances and open into the house and outside through French doors to patios. All have oversized walk-in closets with instant switched lighting.

The gardens wrap from front to back through trellised walkways and wrought iron gates and are accented by antique statuary and focal points include a 60 year old camellia tree and original greenhouse sheltering a hidden Zen Garden. All of this is surrounded by a large tract of Pebble Beach forested easement offering ultimate privacy.

The entry to MPCC is a two minute walk, the beach is less than a 5 minute walk, Spanish Bay, Poppy Hills and Country Club Gate shops and restaurants are all 2 minute drives.

The home is owned by prominent antique dealers and all contents are negotiable.
