* Courses indicated will be offered at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar. ** Breadth Courses: Students are required to take one course in each of the following categories – Cognition, Choice, and Behavior (CCB), Economic, Political and Social Institutions (EPSI), and Cultural Analysis (CA). *** Free electives: Students are also required to take four non-technical electives and four free electives. For free electives, a student can choose any available Carnegie Mellon course to fulfill a free elective. Students also need to take four regular biology electives and two advanced biology electives.

What the Program Involves The Biological Sciences program has a core curriculum that provides a foundation in biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics and physics. In addition to the core courses, the program includes biological sciences electives, as well as general electives that allow students to shape their degree program according to their interests and goals.

Students often enhance their undergraduate laboratory experience by engaging in a 10-week discovery-based research program at an oncampus lab or collaborating institution. The research experience helps students apply the critical thinking and problem-solving skills they learn in the classroom to real-world situations.

The Degree in Biological Sciences The undergraduate degree in biological sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar is offered in collaboration with Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar. The program uses interdisciplinary approaches to tackle some of today’s most important scientific problems, and provides students with an education that has both intellectual breadth and depth of exposure to modern research biology.

This quantitative course requires substantial laboratory experience, and equips students with the skills needed to approach new scientific problems from fresh angles.
