The Carol Stream Park District Board of Commissioners consists of seven individuals who are elected by the community to represent the community’s best interests. The charge of the Board is to set policies that will guide the Park District. Board members serve a four-year term and receive no compensation for the time they give. They come from a variety of backgrounds but share one important trait -a commitment to serving the park and recreational needs of our community.

Board Meetings Regularly scheduled meetings of the Board are held on the second and/or the fourth Monday of each month according to a schedule adopted by the Board yearly. Please check our website for our current meeting schedule. Regular Board Meetings open at 7:00 pm.

Outdoor Movie Night: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Friday, Aug 19, 8pm Have a Wonkalicious time at our interactive outdoor movie night. The original 1974 classic tells the story of Charlie Bucket and his tour of the magical candy factory along with four other grossly gluttonous girls and boys. Listen and singa-long to classic songs like “Pure Imagination” and “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket”. There is no admission cost for the movie but kids can purchase an interactive fun pack at the door for $1.00, and refreshments (including Wonka bars) will be sold for an additional cost. Enjoy a “sweet” night with your family and friends under the stars. All ages welcome, under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Bring your own blankets or lawn chair. Skateboard Camp This one day camp is for beginner or intermediate skaters who want to learn or enhance the following skills: start, stop, drop in, ollies, basic ramp riding, balance and various tricks. Join the Dolphins Swim Team!

The Carol Stream Dolphins are part of the DuPage Swim and Dive Conference consisting of 14 park district swim teams. Kids (ages 6 -18) do not need to have competitive swimming experience to join. Practices are held weekday mornings at Coral Cove with 10 meets in the seasonWednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. The season begins in June and ends the last week of July. If your child has not taken lessons with us before or if you want your child to be tested into a higher level you will need to attend the appropriate test dates. Please attend the date that is assigned to your class you are signing up for.

Starfish Babies Infant/Parent class takes each child through progressive levels of water adjustment. A wonderful opportunity to spend quality time between parent and child while introducing him/her to skills such as kicks, floating, breath holding, jumps and much more. No class on July 4.

Aquatics

Age Appropriate Our programs are tailored to each age group. Classes include Pathway to Preschool for 2 1/2 year olds, 3 year old Preschool, 4 year old Preschool, and Pathway to Kindergarten for more advanced 4 year olds.

Structured Lessons Our preschool program curriculum reflects the Illinois Learning Standards and helps children develop prekindergarten skills including letter and name recognition, listening, health habits, cooperative play, fine motor skills and socialization skills. The classes are structured around academic and holiday themes that will enhance learning and fun.

Monthly EZpay Option Available - EZpay forms available in your Preschool registration packet, or online at csparks.org Monthly payments are due the first of each month for the Preschool Program. Full payment is due at registration—current month and last month. Payment amounts already include discounts for school holidays, breaks and non-attendance days (our program follows the District 93 school calendar). The parents of children that are not fully capable of handling their own toilet needs must stay on site during class hours or be within five minutes of the building during class hours. The Pathway to Preschool Program is designed for children that miss the age requirement for our regular preschool program. This program is designed to help build the bridge to our preschool program and provides an opportunity for 2½-3 year olds to enhance their social, physical and creative development. 3 Year-Old Program

Pathway to Kindergarten Children must be 4 years old by June 1, 2011 This five-day program is especially designed for the more advanced, mature 4-year old who has had at least one year of preschool experience and turned four by June 1, 2011. The fun-making trailer is stocked with 10 lightweight tables, 100 lightweight chairs, a 10’ by 10’ pop-up canopy, a super-sized charcoal grill, games and a sound system. We’ll even deliver it right to your door! The Party Wagon is available April -October. Reservations begin February 1 every year. Cost is $99. Coral Cove Water Park Rentals The Coral Cove Water Park is available for rentals during the summer on Fridays and Saturdays from 8:15 pm -10:15 pm and on Sundays from 7:15 pm to 9:15 pm. WAIVER REGISTRATION/BROCHURE WAIVER & RELEASE IMPORTANT INFORMATION The Carol Stream Park District is committed to conducting its recreation programs and activities in a safe manner and holds the safety of participants in high regard. The Carol Stream Park District continually strives to reduce such risks and insists that all participants follow safety rules and instructions that are designed to protect the participants’ safety. However, participants and parents/guardians of minors registering for the above listed programs/activities must recognize that there is an inherent risk of injury when choosing to participate in recreational activities/programs. You are solely responsible for determining if you or your minor child/ward are physically fit and/or skilled for the activities contemplated by this agreement. It is always advisable, especially if the participant is pregnant, disabled in any way or recently suffered an illness, injury or impairment, to consult a physician before undertaking any physical activity. WARNING OF RISK Recreational activities are intended to challenge and engage the physical, mental and emotional resources of each participant. Despite careful and proper preparation, instruction, medical advice, conditioning and equipment, there is still a risk of serious injury when participating in any recreational activity. Depending on the particular activity, participants must understand that certain risks, dangers and injuries due to inclement weather, slip and falls, poor skill level or conditioning, carelessness, horseplay, unsportsmanlike conduct, premises defects, inadequate or defective equipment, inadequate supervision, instruction or officiating, and all other circumstances inherent to indoor and outdoor recreational activities exist.
