Recycle Your Holiday Lights

Online: Browse the full activity guide online, register for activities and pay by credit card at csparks.org In person: Pick up an activity guide; complete a registration form and pay by cash, check or credit card at Simkus Recreation Center.

By Mail: Receive a guide by mail, complete a registration form and mail the form and check to Simkus Recreation Center, 849 W Lies Rd, Carol Stream, IL 60188

Donate your old and broken holiday lights to Carol Stream’s lights recycling program. Collection boxes are available at Simkus Recreation Center, Carol Stream Library and the Village Hall.

Proceeds from recycling are used for the village’s Christmas Sharing Program.

Payment Full payment for most programs is due at the time of registration.

Payment may be made by cash, check or credit card (Visa/MC/ AMEX/DISC). Make checks payable to the Carol Stream Park District; There is a $20 fee for returned checks.

Program Capacity All programs have minimum and maximum enrollments. If the minimum enrollment is not met one week prior to the program date, the Park District may have to cancel, postpone or consolidate the program with another program. If the program is cancelled, full credits will be issued.

Waiting Lists Once the maximum enrollment is met for a class, a waiting list will be formed. We will create additional classes when feasible and you will be contacted. Refunds will be processed after the first class.

Winter Bird Feeding Attract some color to your garden during the winter months with a bird feeder. Several types of bird feeder and bird seed are available, and each attracts a different kind of bird. Cardinals prefer sunflower seed, finches like nyjer or thistle seed and blue jays and chickaddes eat shelled peanuts. Look for squirrel-proof feeders to prevent the critters from stealing all of your bird feed.

The Carol Stream Park District Board of Commissioners consists of seven individuals who are elected by the community to represent the community’s best interests. The charge of the Board is to set policies that will guide the Park District. Board members serve a four-year term and receive no compensation for the time they give. They come from a variety of backgrounds and share one important trait - a commitment to serving the park and recreational needs of our community.

Board Meetings

Regularly scheduled meetings of the Board are held on the second and/or the fourth Monday of each month according to a schedule adopted by the Board yearly. Please check our website for our current meeting schedule. Regular Board Meetings open at 7:00 pm.

Cardboard Car Drive-In Movie Tuesday, Jan 3

Santa Visits Wednesday & Thursday, Dec 14 & 15 Surprise a child with a visit from Santa right to your house. Santa will arrive in his ‘custom’ RV and listen to your child’s holiday wish list inside the RV! Due to his heavy schedule, Santa will stay for five minutes in front of each house and will only be able to visit with immediate family members. You will need to be available 5:30 to 8:00PM so Santa finds you at home. Please register by November 25 as Santa has many children to visit and will need to know his schedule early! Santa visits are open only to residents of the Carol Stream Park District. Santa Visits are sponsored

by Hometown RV, located right here in Carol Stream. They’ve generously agreed to donate the use of Santa’s RV. Visit them on the web at www.hometownrv.com. Registration fee is per family.

Friday, Dec 30 Are you too young to stay up until midnight? Parents and their young children can get an early start on the party at CSPD’s countdown to Noon party! Dance to the music with our disc jockey! Games, crafts, dancing and a fun balloon drop are all part of the fun. Festive snacks and a fun dessert will also be served. A parent/guardian is free but required to stay at the event.

Develop self-confidence and self-respect in a safe and fun environment. Participants will be taught how to perform better and get that competitive edge. Karate is an art that stresses defense rather than offense. Sensei Matt is a 3rd degree black belt who teaches the traditional style of Okinawan karate. Students will develop coordination along with self-confidence, respect and a positive self-image. Uniforms can be purchased through the instructor. Parents can participate with their enrolled children for no additional charge.

Classes taught by Illinois Shotokan Karate Club instructors under direction of John DiPasquale, four time National Champion, U.S. Karate National Coach. 2. Registration is by grade level. Players are to be registered for the grade the player is currently in.

3. Preschoolers must be entering kindergarten for the 2012/2013 school year.

Softball 1. Register on line at csparks.org or use the registration form in this guide.

2. Registration is by age.

3. Players are to be registered based on their age as of December 31, 2011.

Wait List 1. Players placed on a wait list are not guaranteed placement on a team.

Before team formation: 2. Player will be moved of the wait list when there are enough to form an additional team.

After team formation: 3. Placement will only be done when a team or teams are below the established maximum number of team participants.

4. Players will not be added to any team one week prior to the first scheduled game.

Requests 1. One mutual friendship request per player will be honored for players in Preschool thru Grade 2.

2. One practice day conflict form per player will be accepted for players at all levels.

3. Due to the nature of the program, we cannot accept any other coach, player, or carpool requests 4. A park district request forms must be used for these requests and the guidelines must be followed.

Aquatics SWIM LESSONS

Swim lesson program is for swimmers of all ages.

Location: Bartlett Community Center, 700 S Bartlett Rd., Bartlett Before registering for a swim lesson • Review previous lesson history and age limitations of class • Returning Bartlett Park District swimmers, register for lessons according to a previous swim lesson report card.

Depending on the particular activity, participants must understand that certain risks, dangers and injuries due to inclement weather, slip and falls, poor skill level or conditioning, carelessness, horseplay, unsportsmanlike conduct, premises defects, inadequate or defective equipment, inadequate supervision, instruction or officiating, and all other circumstances inherent to indoor and outdoor recreational activities exist. Recycle Your Holiday Lights

Online: Browse the full activity guide online, register for activities and pay by credit card at csparks.org In person: Pick up an activity guide; complete a registration form and pay by cash, check or credit card at Simkus Recreation Center.

Donate your old and broken holiday lights to Carol Stream’s lights recycling program. Collection boxes are available at Simkus Recreation Center, Carol Stream Library and the Village Hall.

Proceeds from recycling are used for the village’s Christmas Sharing Program.

Payment Full payment for most programs is due at the time of registration.

Payment may be made by cash, check or credit card (Visa/MC/ AMEX/DISC). Make checks payable to the Carol Stream Park District; There is a $20 fee for returned checks.

Program Capacity All programs have minimum and maximum enrollments. If the minimum enrollment is not met one week prior to the program date, the Park District may have to cancel, postpone or consolidate the program with another program. If the program is cancelled, full credits will be issued.

Waiting Lists Once the maximum enrollment is met for a class, a waiting list will be formed. We will create additional classes when feasible and you will be contacted. Refunds will be processed after the first class.

Winter Bird Feeding Attract some color to your garden during the winter months with a bird feeder. Several types of bird feeder and bird seed are available, and each attracts a different kind of bird. Cardinals prefer sunflower seed, finches like nyjer or thistle seed and blue jays and chickaddes eat shelled peanuts. Look for squirrel-proof feeders to prevent the critters from stealing all of your bird feed.
