Our 'Night Walk' raises over £900 for Christmas treats! Twenty-six enthusiastic walkers made up of Lennel House staff, residents and friends braved the chilly weather conditions on Wednesday 16 November to do a 5km ‘Walk in the Dark’ fundraiser. The money collected will be used to buy extra special decorations and goodies for our residents to help make the festive season extra special.
The 'Night Walk' participants ready for the off
When a couple of the Lennel staff along with two residents came up with this idea back in September they had hoped to raise a few hundred pounds as a result, little did they know that they would end up with a final sum in excess of £900! Friends and relatives have been extremely generous and Lennel staff have been overwhelmed with the amount raised, and the encouraging response they've had. They were joined on the night by a group of walkers and dogs from Farne Salmon in Duns - who also collected sponsors for the event and donated £100 from internal fundraising. Tustain Motors in Berwick-Upon-Tweed also kindly donated a cheque for £50 which helped achieve this fantastic final sum. Jim took Coop around the route
A heartfelt thanks goes to all who helped to make the night such a success.

Lennel activities spotlight ..... It's panto time!!! This year’s panto will be 'Jack and the Beanstalk', (oh no it won’t – oh yes it will), sorry I couldn’t resist it! Travelling theatre company 'Lakeland Productions' visit Lennel on 14th December at 3pm with their interpretation of this famous panto. If it is anything like the last few panto’s we have had at Lennel from this wonderful touring group then we will be in for an afternoon of fun and laughter. If you are free please come along and bring any little ones with you to join in the fun.
Therapet 'Bob' who visits Lennel was up for an award!! Dawn who brings 'Bob' to Lennel tells the story: It was a great honour to have Bob nominated for Therapet of the Year 2016 at the Canine Concern Scotland Trust 28th Annual Awards. We started coming to Lennel at the beginning of the year, and since then my other dog Coop has joined in the weekly visits also. We love our visits and thoroughly enjoy seeing the difference the dogs can make to the residents, and vice versa! Whether it is Bob getting some peace and quiet to have a wee snooze with Margaret, Coop getting his cuddles from Douglas or both dogs being taken for a walk by Brian, they love it all. With over 700 dogs volunteering with Canine Concern it was a great honour to be able to attend the Awards lunch on 20th November, despite not being the winner in the end. It was wonderful to hear the amazing work that is done by the charity, there are some truly amazing pooches out there. And as for not winning – well there’s always next year……………….
Lennel House Christmas Fair This year we would like to do something a little bit different and hold a Christmas Fair at Lennel House. This will be on the 8th December between 2pm – 4pm. We hope you will come along and support this festive event and take the time to have a look around our wonderful home. We will have a variety of stalls selling everything from cakes to jewellery, their will also be a raffle, and of course the kettle will be on for that welcoming cup of tea and mince pies. It would be lovely to see you. !! There may be space for a couple of more stalls, so if you're interested call Carol or Kirsty on 01890 882812
Douglas enjoys his birthday lunch To celebrate Douglas’s 70th birthday, Glenda and Sarah, two of Lennel Staff, decided to surprise him to a trip out for a birthday lunch. As you can see from the picture this went down a treat as well as the lunch ..... which did look rather yummy.
Resident & Relative Surgeries
Monday 12th December : 6-8pm
Resident & Relative surgeries will be held every second Monday between 6pm and 8pm. Please come along for any issues you may have, to share any ideas or for regular updates on the home. If you need to speak to Claire in-between times, as always, Claire holds an open door policy and welcomes visitors. If you wish to see Claire out of hours, evenings or weekends, please phone Lennel on Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm and she will be very happy to arrange this with you.
LUCIE HAS OUR RESIDENTS HAIR READY FOR CHRISTMAS We have a lovely new hairdresser called Lucie, who will be popping into Lennel every Tuesday to coiffure the ladies hair and give the gents a trim. Lucie has only been with us a few weeks but already she has become a valued member of our team and I’m sure you would agree with me that all our residents look lovely and ready for the festive season.
Christmas Raffle Prizes Needed It’s that time of year when we are putting together our bumper hamper for our Christmas Raffle. If you have anything lurking in the back of your cupboard like a jar of pickles, some biccies, last year’s unwanted Christmas pressie or even that bottle of wine you never got round to drinking ... we would be very grateful for them.
Thank You Lucie with Eleanor
All at Lennel would like to thank everyone who have kindly donated Christmas decorations and trees over the past few weeks. We want Lennel to sparkle over the festive season and to give our residents a wonderful Christmas, your generosity will certainly make this happen.
