Shoppers at Gap in the Arboretum shopping center were getting a head start on their holiday shopping on Nov. 21 when a group of armed robbers entered the store. The burglars, who were masked and carrying guns, stole belongings from eight people inside the store just before 8 p.m. according to a CharlotteMecklenburg Police Department report.
CMPD arrested Ariel Terry, 21, on Dec. 9 with three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, among other felonies, in connection to the Gap robbery. No other arrests have been made. Individuals in the Arboretum were unaware a crime occurred until officers arrived and suspects had fled the scene. “These guys walked into the business, masked and with guns, at 8 p.m. in the evening,� said CMPD South Division Captain Todd Lontz. “Most people outside didn't have any idea this happened until police showed up.
