Queen City Brass Band’s annual patriotic concert MINT HILL – The Queen City Brass `Band will take the stage in downtown Mint Hill for the town’s annual patriotic concert on Friday, July 3, at 7 p.m. The concert will conclude the town’s annual June Tunes concert series, and will feature various patriotic favorites and more.

MATTHEWS – Nineteenth-century physician Dr. Henry V. Massey is one of the most prominent historical figures in Matthews, but until recently, the town didn’t even have a photograph of him. Local historians now have seen two images of the man known to many as simply “Dr. Massey. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Kevin Furniss and Jennifer Nemes, two Florida residents and the great-great-grandchildren of Dr. Massey, recently donated hundreds of memorabilia items to the Matthews Heritage Museum. Items include multiple letters and receipts, with the earliest document dating back to 1863, as well as Dr. Massey’s spectacle rims, his wife’s small braided locket necklace, late 19th- and early 20th-century photographs, antique medical bottles and more.
