My path to Landscape Architecture was a circuitous one, but it has been the perfect fit thus far. The field marries my academic strengths of math and science with my creative interests. With a Fashion Merchandising background + my BLA, I like to think the two worlds share an emphasis on color, form, and texture. Landscape Architecture continues to give me the creative opportunities that the fashion world offers, but on a more substantive level and a greater scale. My hope for my portfolio is that it conveys my unique perspective and my breadth of abilities and experience. Enjoy!

THE NORTH OCONEE GREENWAY CORRIDOR EXPANSION The North Oconee Greenway is a series of parks and trails along the Oconee River in Athens, Georgia. The goal of the Greenway Corridor Expansion Project was to develop the west side of the Oconee River to make it a more dynamic and multifaceted experience. Visitors will be able to better connect to the existing greenway, making it both educational and inviting to a diverse group of users.

INFILL PLAZA DESIGN
INVENTORY + ANALYSIS
651 Oglethorpe Avenue is an undeveloped 3.84-acre lot in Athens, Georgia. There is single family housing to the south and east, Bishop Park to the north, and a commercial corridor to the west.
Our 3rd Year Design Studio was tasked with developing the site as a plaza, taking into account zoning restrictions, surrounding land uses, and density. The major site limitations and consideration that informed the design were an Out Parcel to be left undisturbed, significant grade change from the NE to SW corners, and a required Food Truck Lot in the SE corner.
Existing Conditions on Site
The result of the design process was the Athens-Clarke County, GA North Athens Plaza, an urban retreat for nearby businesses and residents. Spanning a whole city block, the plaza offers space for passive and active leisure. The goal of the North Athens Plaza is to have something for everyone: read a book in the grass under a tree, catch up over lunch in the main plaza, or get in some afternoon shopping. There is ample seating both formal and informal, fixed and non-fixed, for every user and every mood. Site: Athens, GA 03

NEIGHBORHOOD PLANNING UNIT G ATLANTA, GEORGIA
Neighborhood Planning Unit “G,” or NPU-G, is an 3,300+ acre area on the northwest side of Atlanta along the Chattahoochee River. Atlanta is the only U.S. city to use Neighborhood Planning Units (NPUs). NPUs are a neighborhood-scale government structure put in place in the 1970s with the intention of better catering to the varying needs of residents in each of the 25 Units.
NPU-G was the focus of our 4th Year Design Studio, “Region, Site, + Place.” We worked with a team from the Georgia Conservancy to update the master plan for sustainable development in the NPU.
After the class conducted Existing Conditions Inventory as a group, we each began to focus on a sub-area where we saw the need and potential for development. For me, it was the Gun Club Landfill, a 125-acre closed landfill in the center of the site. GIS was the primarily tool used to gather data for this site and project.

PHASE 1: EXISTING CONDITIONS INVENTORY (EMPHASIS ON THOSE THAT MOST INFORMED THE DESIGN)
Because of the methane and carbon dioxide released by a closed landfill, the Gun Club Landfill is not open to development until 2030. As a result, we proposed a phased program development for the future of the landfill and it’s surrounding area:
Phase One (5-8 years): • Call out Tree Save and conservation areas particularly along Proctor Creek. • Create trails around perimeter of landfill and connect to existing neighborhoods. • Develop low-density commercial pockets along vehicular corridor.
Phase Two (8-12 years): • Develop neighborhood recycling and compost programs. • Build LEED Certified Museum + Visitor Center that tells the history of Gun Club Landfill and acts as a trailhead for the nearby trails. • Develop Mixed-Use site along vehicular corridor.
Phase Three (12-15 years): • Develop Landfill -Trails throughout -Pocket Parks -Solar Farm -Amphitheater/ Outdoor Venue
