This summer peaked my determination and passion in news and journalism when I had the opportunity to travel to Ireland with the Valdosta State media department and assist in the production of a mobile travel documentary about Waterford, Ireland. This was a chance to research content, report and edit information to produce the film. Shortly after returning from Ireland I traveled to Washington DC and started an Internship with The US House Of Representatives. This would only further my drive in current events and political affairs and it allowed me to fully immerse myself into the hub of it all. It has been a great honor to intern for Congressman Rick Allen of Georgia District 12. I have also recently accepted a position as a fall 2016 intern at WTOC television station in Savannah. I have spent the semester assisting reporters with filming, editing, script writing, and interviewing. I will have the opportunity to shadow producers and write VOSOT's for them and help produce shows. Also I will have the chance to write and have published news stories on WTOC's website and Facebook page. I have realized my love for news, breaking news, feature stories, and any sort of story that allows me to interact with people and gather information. I have gained so much knowledge working along reporters and producers. I feel confident with my camera skills and also have a knowledge of Edius and ENPS. I would also like to speak to my academic record. I graduated high school in 2013 with just receiving a diagnosis of Inattentive ADHD. I feel this is an important aspect of what makes me who I am and what has made me into the aspiring journalist. I had often struggled in school and found myself lacking confidence in the classroom. When I began college I worried that I would not succeed however after finding support and resources I have been able to thrive in the academic area. I was even pleased to make the Dean's List in 2015 and plan to continue along this path. I find joy in reminding people who are like me that just because information and academic success does not come easy to us, we are lucky to have a brain that is constantly working. I have cultivated my energy and ability to work for long hours into a

passion for journalism. My creativity, passion and desire to continue to learn will set me apart from other students. The opportunity to get real life experience would be a dream come true for me. The chance to talk with other on air professionals, and learn the business of news, would be a stepping stone in my career and help me to begin the journey to following my dreams of becoming a reporter. I am described by my peers as someone who is dedicated and always willing to step out of my comfort zone to try something new. I have shown that I am always thriving to learn more and take criticism and advice to become better each day. I have dedicated my college career to pursuing a degree in journalism with the hopes of becoming a reporter. However, I believe that my academic pursuits are only half of what make me who I am. As you can see from my resume, I am an individual that thrives on and excels while performing in front of a crowd. Two years on the Georgia Southern 2014 and 2015 Collegiate National Championship Allgirl Cheerleading squad has taught me lessons of teamwork, discipline, and given me a “no excuses, just results” mantality. Along with those things I gained the poise of performing in front of large crowds and personal appearances. I learned how to represent my school and my team in a professional and respectful way. I learned that sometimes we have to give up other events in order to uphold a future goal. During that time I even found time to compete in two Miss America preliminaries and won evening gown in the 2014 Miss Georgia Southern pageant. In my junior year of college I became very serious about my school work and found a new passion for being an online journalist for The Odyssey Online. It was an honor to win many weekly most shared articles and receive the position as a recruiter for the company. With this opportunity I was able to work with others and help them get their voice heard. While I was not writing or planning parents weekend for the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, I spent my free time on the Georgia Southern Equestrian team as well. Time

management is a skill that I have perfected throughout the years and I have become very proud of my ability to get many things done and taken care of in a timely fashion.
