Good food and gracious entertaining were always major ingredients in Caroline Ragsdale Reutter’s life. Born in Charleston and raised in Lake City, South Carolina, Caroline learned the enjoyment that food brings into everyone’s lives from an early age at her mother’s cocktail parties, family barbeques and church gatherings. In 1982, Caroline served her first 7-Layer Caramel cake at her son Richard’s christening and it wasn’t long before family and friends soon began asking for more. Word of Caroline’s Cakes quickly spread and within a few short years she had a customer base across the country.

It feels especially meaningful to be writing this on the anniversary of the first Caramel Cake served by Caroline in 1982. It’s another cause for celebration at Caroline’s Cakes as we honor our past and look forward to the celebrations and holiday gatherings ahead. Each year our Caramel, Coconut, Southern Chocolate, and seasonal cake flavors grace your dining room tables. They are gifted to gracious hosts and shared with friends and family throughout the holidays as memories are shared and the joy of the season fills your homes.
