around, join in with the choirs, hum along the tunes, enjoy yourselves! A timetable for the musical events will be available at the Stage, Venue 1.
Extend your weekend From Thursday 11th July and all Thursdays in August, Kirkcudbright hosts Scottish Night – a real favourite with both local people and visitors. The excellent family friendly entertainment on offer includes music, dancing, local performers, bands and, of course, our very famous Kirkcudbright Tug o’ War, with our home team remaining unbeaten for 40 years! So kick off your Art & Crafts Trail weekend early and join the town in the Harbour Square from 7pm on Thursday 1st August. 4 ~ Art & Crafts Trail 2019

And if you’re looking for something to do on Friday evening, watch history come alive on one of Maggie’s historical tours of Old Kirkcudbright. Come along and be entertained by the players, arrested by the guard, perplexed by scientists, or even propositioned by a lady of ill repute, and learn about the hard life the people of Kirkcudbright led 350 years ago. The tour runs from 7pm to 8.30pm, on Friday 2nd August, leaving from the Selkirk Arms, High Street.
Trail Theme This year we are again having a themed trail. Two ideas, Fantastic Creatures and Space to commemorate the 50 years since the Moon Landing. There is plenty of scope for anyone to join in, space monsters, rockets, fantastic natural creatures or made up things - the choice is yours. These ideas to brighten up the town are always popular and if you wish to join in free blanks are available from the Summer Festivities Charity Shop. Hand them back for display or put them in a window for people to see your artwork.
Trail Taster Event
The lovely Harbour Cottage Gallery is once again providing the backdrop for our popular Taster Event from 17th to 22nd June and showcasing the work of our talented artists, giving a flavour of what you can expect to see in August. Rotary Young Artists' Competition Kirkcudbright Art and Crafts Trail are pleased to work alongside Kirkcudbright Rotary Club to encourage the artistic talents of the children in the Stewartry. In the six years that the Rotary Young Artists’ competition has been running we have been privileged to see and enjoy many venue different artworks submitted by local 29 young people. Kirkcudbright Academy students and pupils from their five partner Primary Schools always take part and the standard of work produced gets better and better each year. The variety in the interpretation of the subject that has been set is always worth viewing. This year the theme was inspired by all the vibrant colours to be seen in the world around us. Trophies, prizes and certificates are awarded in three categories;

Kirkcudbright Stones Are Taking Part In Our Trail There is a dedicated group of people in and around Kirkcudbright who bring a lot of fun and joy into the lives of the children with their wonderful painted stones. Helpful clues are given alongside photos of the stones on their Facebook page and the treasure hunt begins. We are very pleased that the group will be taking part in this year’s trail, with stones based on the space and fantastic creatures theme. So, keep your eyes peeled, look round venues far and wide, if you find a stone you can take it home !
Try Meditation at Millburn Studio Learn how to free yourself from its grasp and gain access once again to the treasure store that lies within by visiting The Millburn Studio. During the normal trail times, there will be meditation on the subject of peace, with additional meditation opportunities in the evenings. A creative meditation and introduction will take place each evening during the Trail, from 6.30 to 7.30pm. Please be prompt. There is no charge for this event. All welcome.

Vote of thanks We have watched our trail grow from small beginnings to being an award winning four day event and part of the Kircudbright Summer Festivities. Our Trail provides a showcase for our beautiful Artists’ Town and the talented folks who live in or are associated with Kirkcudbright. We know that we could not run it without the cheerful friendly band of townsfolk whose willing help oils the wheels of the trail making things run smoothly. Our very grateful thanks to them and also to you our visitors. Your comments and Facebook interaction are valuable to us, do return we will always be pleased to see you. Best wishes!
