Overview
The European Industry Park is currently being developed in the city of Dontgai, 190km to the north of Shanghai. As a result of recent improvements of the regional infrastructure, Dongtai is now an only two and a half hours from downtown Shanghai and Pudong International Airport. The park will embody a high quality, sustainable and environmentally friendly ethos and will possess a strong corporate identity with unique Western characteristics. The functional zoning is proposed as an integrated layout with ecological concerns. Sustainable development Solid green structures will be strong enough to organize and bind the diverse developments of the industry behind it. These green structures make it possible to provide less strict restrictions, regulations and guidelines for the visual quality of the industrial building itself and at the same time we will still be able to achieve a high overall quality for the unified western industrial park. The internal water system runs through the park as a continuous canal and will generate a landscape and natural border for the industrial plots. This canal will collect all the rainwater from all the roofs, pavement and roads. The materials of the roofs and other exposed materials must be limited to those materials which will not pollute the rainwater with heavy metals, etc. Along this canal reeds will start to clean the collected rain water trough a natural process of the helophyte filters. The major cleaning process will take place at the east part of the park where a concentrated field with small canals and reeds. The circulation will be guaranteed by two pumps where the local water meets the regional water. These waters should not be mixed and therefore the local water will be pumped under the regional canal. Solar and/or wind energy can provide the needed energy.

Park Design
The European Industry Park has substantial backing. It is being developed by GEO Industry Park Co, Ltd. The Municipality of Dongtai holds ten per cent of the shares, with the other 90 per cent being held by GEO Investments BV, the Netherlands. The ten per cent holding by the city authority will guarantee stability, not least in terms of reducing any political risks.
