Terry Dictionary Quality and finishing Single ply terry means that yarns which are used for the pile have one loop. The full and soft feeling is achieved through special lye and finishing. Single ply terry has a fluffy grip and is highly absorbent.

Turbang® is a registered finishing process with very sustainable characteristics. Terry items are fluffed up and become very soft and voluminous even before the first washing.

Double ply terry refers to the kind of loop in the pile. Every loop exists of two yarns which are twisted. Two ply terry qualities have a more regular but shorter pile than single ply ones. Two ply towels are very lasting and highly absorbent. Grip is more solid.

Colours

Velour is made from single and / or double ply yarn. For its shiny look and velvety grip loops are shorn twice on the front side and go through various kinds of finishing. On the back side of the towel single or double ply terry is unchanged to standard single or double ply terry in order be absorbent.

If you prefer a towel with strong, shiny colors, the first choice is the reactive dyeing process. Reactive colors are expressive for promotion and can be produced in every shade according to customer preference. They have good washing characteristics with high color fastness and recommend themselves excellently for the private home.

Knitted Terry is produced on special looms. Pile is in pure cotton and characterised by the fact that loops cannot be pulled. In order to stay soft polyester yarns are woven into the weft. Regular share of polyester is approx. 6–12 %.

For laundries and the textile supply in hotels, clinics and SPA we recommend vat dyed colors. Specialists regard vat dye-stuffs as insuperable regarding color fastness, light resistance, washing stability and sweat fastness. They are less shiny and have a smaller range of colors compared to reactive colors. Vat dyed colors can be boiled and are resistant against certain contents of chlorine. They are ideally suited for the industrial washing process.

Polyester yarns are important for high quality products due to some excellent characteristics. Polyester yarns are tear resistant up to 55 km and have an elasticity of 15 to 25 %. Polyester is used to soften and stabilise qualities which are used for bath mats, for pique or knitted terry qualities. Polyester is very resistant against damaging influences of chemicals and other colours, against climate and light intensity. Well soft is a special kind of polyester fabric which is produced in a complex process of refinements. Fabrics are absolutely fluffy and very warming. Absorbency is less than with cotton yarn and drying goes faster.

We recommend Reactive or vat dye-stuffs. Choice of dye-stuff and dyeing process depends especially on use.

Care tips regarding colours Do not use full detergents for terry materials because they contain optical brighteners. Please take care of obligatory washing instructions – from labels and for your washing machine.

Hydrophilic means that terry gets highly absorbent. Hydrophilic finishing is applied on high quality terry articles. It is especially useful for intensive colours in order to regain the absorbency of the basic cotton yarn.

Care tips Our terry items are best quality in all weights and should be washed for the first time with 95°C in order to blossom up and show their characteristics. After that please follow the instructions on the product’s labels. When you wash a terry product for the first time surplus dye may run. For this reason, we recommend washing light and intensely coloured terry items separately. Do not lay wet items on top of each other for long. Do not wash white items with coloured applications or embroidery at 90°C. High temperatures may also result in the item becoming discoloured.

Terry is a highly absorbent material and needs a great deal of water when being washed. In order to shed fluff from the item on the first wash make sure that your washing machine is about half full.

Bleaching not permitted (applies only on coloured products)

Please cut any long threads as short as possible and never pull them out. This makes sure the surface of the product remains unaffected.

Laundry processing subject to specific limits; use perchloroethylene or benzine.
